1236642 2011-10-10 18:57:00 Dont use registry cleaners. Some can kill a system. And delete valid entries Speedy Gonzales (78)
1236643 2011-10-11 09:40:00 I have been using 'Crap Cleaner' for years and never known it go wrong. It encourages you to back up the registry first, but I have never had to use a backup. mzee (3324)

1236646 2011-10-11 21:42:00 One thing that I have never had to try -- even though you can make a backup of the reg with Ccleaner first -- what happens if on reboot the computer wont boot because of the entries being removed -- How do you run the backup if you cant get into the system ?

Better off making a restore point within windows, at least you can boot from the recovery CD and run system restore.:2cents:

1236647 2011-10-11 22:04:00 For paranoia's sake I uncheck all the reg settings in CC.

Years ago I had a reg cleaner wipeout a whole bunch of printer entries all because the printer was turned off at the time. Luckily I restored it with the backup.

1236648 2011-10-12 05:32:00 -1 for Auslogics because it caused my OS to become unbootable the first it was used.

+1 for Ccleaner because it has never failed me in years of use.

1236649 2011-10-12 05:40:00 I see RegCure is not detected by several anti-virus apps. I wouldn't recommend using any registry cleaner, not even CCleaner. Greven (91)
1236650 2011-10-12 22:21:00 used cc reg clean option for years
never had it cause a single problem
never heard of it causing one either - have you?
