1236228 2011-10-07 22:31:00 am endeavouring to install WordPress on to my computer to do some layout experiments, etc.

I have used WEBPI to do the installation. I have got ILS installed OK.
The next step involves the installation of .Net Framework4.
The files download OK but the installation fails with an error code : (0xC8000222).
Here is a copy of the log file of the failure:

My computer is running Windows 7, Intel Core I3, 4 GB of Ram, 1TB HDD. Broadband connection through cable.

This is an error code common to other software installations according to a survey I carried out on the net.

Any assistance will be appreciated.

1236229 2011-10-07 22:41:00 Looks like you can get that error, if the WU folder is corrupt. (answers.microsoft.com)

Try this then try again

1. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter. Please run the following command in the opened window.

net stop WuAuServ

2. Click Start, Run, type: %windir% and press Enter.
3. In the opened folder, rename the folder SoftwareDistribution to SDold.
4. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter.

Please run the following command in the opened window.

net start WuAuServ

1236230 2011-10-07 22:52:00 Did you download it Via windows update or by a standalone installer ?

Several times I have had the web based (updates version) fail and had to use the standalone installer Available here (www.microsoft.com)

1236231 2011-10-08 00:01:00 Thank you folks
I used speedy Gonzale's method and it worked - WordPress is now installed.
Wainuitech - for your information I used both methods and neither worked.

Thank you both for your prompt replies - it was appreciated.

1236232 2011-10-08 00:03:00 Sweet good to hear its fixed :) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1236233 2011-10-08 00:51:00 Corruption within the SoftwareDistribution folder is often the cause of windows updates not installing. Normally I would just delete the folder after stopping the services if there was a failure with the Web updates.

Good that its going again.
