1235757 2011-10-06 23:25:00 Kiaora everyone.

My 9800GX2 is screwed, weird colors and ****.

Just wondering if there was a way to disable one gpu so I can still get good use out of it, cheers.

1235758 2011-10-07 00:10:00 What makes you think that disabling one of the cores will fix it? How did you come to that conclusion? Chilling_Silence (9)
1235759 2011-10-07 00:13:00 Oh I don't know ay I must be stupid?

A defective core maybe, disabling one and allowing the drivers to detect a single 9800.

1235760 2011-10-07 01:02:00 Potentially just one of the cards may be faulty - no idea on how one would go about disabling one - or if it's even possible.

Unfortunately it's probably new card time...the GTX460/560TI is a good replacement, will fare a lot better with games not optimized for SLI than the 9800 too.

Also a 6850 or 6870 from ATI will have better performance.

1235761 2011-10-07 01:10:00 You've still not said what you've tried to do in order to come to the conclusion that's the issue? I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying that without trying things that seems like a pretty big conclusion to jump to. I would sooner check the cables as well as the monitor, amongst other things... 1235762 2011-10-07 01:30:00 I've checked all cables, different monitors. All of them show the same result. The card works with garbled colours and low resolution, i've tried disabling each one seperately in windows but it still uses the same display port (primary card). CaptainVincent (76)
1235763 2011-10-07 02:20:00 How does it look when you first power on your PC, during boot up / POST? Chilling_Silence (9)

1235765 2011-10-07 02:54:00 I've seen a 9800GX2 with pretty much identical symptoms to your one. Would sort of work with no graphics driver installed, but the moment you put it under any strain at all, it gave up. wratterus (105)
