1235851 2011-10-08 06:33:00 Further, I never faced this slow startup problem in 2-month time. Only now this problem suddenly arose. Maybe I inadvertently used some CD or DVD that forced the primary IDE channel to switch to PIO Mode, I don't know. mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
1235852 2011-10-08 06:34:00 I live in Pakistan. But you may help me on Skype. My name is the same. mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
1235853 2011-10-08 06:40:00 Hmm probably be better if you take it to someone (or someone you know, who knows something about computers), who can open the case and check the connections. Since we cant check from here. Here's some causes of devices changing from DMA to PIO mode (winhlp.com) Speedy Gonzales (78)
1235854 2011-10-08 06:42:00 I also want to mention another attempt to solve this problem by myself but after reading some information on a site I don't remember now. I unchecked all programs in Startup by entering into System Configuration Utility, save antivirus. But now I can see an unnamed program in the list that shows its location as HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run and doesn't even mention Command! mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
1235855 2011-10-08 06:45:00 Interestingly, I've already selected this site for thorough reading! You see, I'm not that dumb! :) mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
1235856 2011-10-08 06:49:00 Does sound like possible software starting that wont be helping.

From a previous post - where you ran Hijack this - and disabled some its that speedy listed, you can al;so untick /disable the following.

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [IDMan] C:\Program Files\Internet Download Manager\IDMan.exe /onboot
O4 - HKUS\S-1-5-18\..\Run: [MP3 Skype Recorder] C:\Program Files\MP3 Skype Recorder\MP3 Skype Recorder.exe (User 'SYSTEM')
O4 - HKUS\.DEFAULT\..\Run: [MP3 Skype Recorder] C:\Program Files\MP3 Skype Recorder\MP3 Skype Recorder.exe (User 'Default user')

Some of those are relating to skype, all that will do is stop it running onstartup. You can still use it, just means you will have to double click the skype icon normally on your desktop to start using.

If you are unsure about disconnecting the above - there is another way. Assuming you installed Ccleaner like speedy suggested, open Ccleaner - On the left, click on Tools, then the Startup button ( see attachment ) Look for the above mentioned entries, and simply double click it to disable - that way you can enable it the same way again if required.

If not to sure what to disable ---- Do you know how to take a screen capture ? If you do open Ccleaner to full screen - take a caputre of the start up items - post it back here.

If the PC has only just started doing it, then it "shouldn't be jumper settings unless someone moved them ( which I doubt has happened)

Another possible way is ( if he wants to) :D allow speedy to remotely connect to your PC, you can see every thing thats happening and he can disable the items required.

I would offer myself, but I have to go out shortly - currently its Saturday night 7.50pm

1235857 2011-10-08 06:51:00 I could have a look with teamviewer if you want (http://www.teamviewer.com). Then you can tell me what program in startup youre talking about (that doesnt have a command). If you get teamviewer send me a PM (left mouse on my name in this post). After you install it. I need the ID and password. So I can log in. You'll see what I'm doing Speedy Gonzales (78)
1235858 2011-10-08 07:24:00 I've sent you the required information. mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
1235859 2011-10-08 07:43:00 Second one is the suspicious program I cannot disable!

1235860 2011-10-08 09:32:00 If youre still around here, run teamviewer again. Or we'll have to try tomorrow. Since its 10.35pm here Speedy Gonzales (78)
