Pretty much we agree in so far as in we can lead a horse to water but we can't make it drink. Therefore I would suggest that making any language other than English compulsory in NZ may be counter productive and only lead to more resentment. I fully agree that Te Reo can and should be promoted but only for those that want to learn it. I do note that many jobs advertised in NZ have a requirement of Te Reo Maori and good luck to those that get work because of their fluency. |
