1235831 2011-10-07 07:13:00 It should be in DMA mode not PIO mode. PIO mode can make a system crawl. Something is wrong with one or both of those IDE devices. They may not be jumpered properly. Speedy Gonzales (78)
1235832 2011-10-07 07:19:00 What if it doesn't? lol mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
1235833 2011-10-07 07:33:00 Well fix it first then we'll find out Speedy Gonzales (78)
1235834 2011-10-07 07:38:00 Under IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers there are listed 3 different things in duplicates: Primary IDE Channel; Secondary IDE Channel; Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller. mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
1235835 2011-10-07 07:42:00 Yup but its the entry where you saw PIO mode thats causing the prob Speedy Gonzales (78)
1235836 2011-10-07 07:44:00 Also, I've downloaded the NetXtreme driver for 64bit Windows7 as well as AMD Catalyst Display Driver (which hopefully will work). But right now I'd prefer to avoid this hassle. mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
1235837 2011-10-07 07:45:00 Go to the motherboard maker's site and download whatever driver Speedy Gonzales (78)
1235838 2011-10-07 07:45:00 But my system is running reasonably fast. It's only the starting stage that sucks. mdRASHIDkhi (16580)
1235839 2011-10-07 07:49:00 Well either check that the IDE cable is fine / or replace it (if the CD and hdd are IDE). Or make sure they're jumpered properly. Because if you dont fix it now, and you reinstall windows 7, you'll probably have the same problem. Like I said it shouldnt be on PIO mode Speedy Gonzales (78)
1235840 2011-10-07 08:01:00 One very simple test to see if its hardware or software related - start the PC in safe mode.

Press the start button or restart, keep tapping F8, when the menu appears, select safe mode - as it loads you will see a lot of writing flying past, these are the default drivers. Once it loads, if its software it will boot into windows a lot faster time.

The graphics will look crap, and many things like the internet wont work.

If its still slow to load then it could be hardware.
