1209175 2011-06-14 03:42:00 So why would you move here get into something like IT, then go back again? Speedy Gonzales (78)
1209176 2011-06-14 03:49:00 Orange like Vodafone or AT&T

1209177 2011-06-14 03:54:00 I wanted to know if IT´s are still needed somewhere else :D

i have a friend from Wellington, and as she described me, it really seemed like paradise:)

Paradise?? Wellington is known for being cold and having huge winds.
Parts of NZ are pretty - tourist spots for instance. But they are not the same spots where the main cities are and the main cities are where the work is. What there is of it.

IT, well if you have masses of experience - never mind qualifications - and are looking for a senior role or a specialised IT role, then yes, there is some work.
General newbies or dogsbody techs - forget it - there is an oversupply already.

Our economy is rubbish, all we have to offer the rest of the world is sheep and milk powder. We don't make anything here anymore, we have far too many imports from China and we are getting (collectively, as a country) further into debt.

If you have work coming up, take it.

funny post... sad though.
I was taught at school that NZ had one of the best economy. Anyway I just wanted to get some kind of computer related job for a year or so, I didn´t really wanted digging holes or milking sheeps.

P.S. your signature is awesome ;)

pctech, he/she is in Spain how much has the EU just loaned them !!.

As you say NZ is in the c r a p as well and it's to China that we will become "slaves" to their rates of pay.

Lurking.

Ps. just come back from queuing for water once again, and it pays to come from the Pacific Islands, while they are filling their 20 litre containers, one of their group hops away to bring back more empty containers to fill, and not a word from us !! is this pc or what !

lurks.

Even sheep milkers might be redundant, they've started introducing robotic milking systems. (in the paper yesterday)

Once upon a time it was good. Now though:

NZ economy weak

10/02/2011 9:36:00

A senior economist is saying the New Zealand economy is weak, no matter whether we're in a recession or not.

That's the feeling of BERL chief economist Ganesh Nana who says discussion over whether we're in a double dip recession or not, is irrelevant.

The Government is concerned the country may be in the midst of a double dip recession, defined as two successive quarters where the economy shrinks.

The economy shrank 0.2% in the September 2010 quarter and the next GDP figures are due out at the end of March.

Mr Nana says what really matters is that 150,000 people are out of work.

yes I do know about Spain, yes, there are other countries with worse, doesn't mean NZ is doing well though.

1209181 2011-06-14 06:45:00 Best bet would be to come over after Christmas with a short term working visa and go fruit picking, plenty of work for that from February onwards for about 3-4 months gary67 (56)
