1209109 2011-06-14 05:11:00 Never been a fan of online storage. I don't like my data being on a server somewhere in the US, just have it all on a 500GB Hard drive. Where I can see it.

+1. Most of my docs / install files etc are on a 200 gb partition. 1/5 of the hdd

I understand, but the burglars can see it too and unless you have two external drives and rotate them off-site a fire or a tsunami can ruin your day.

I've never seen a credible report of Dropbox's encrypting failing or anyone having security problems. I have nothing to hide from the people in black helicopters but even if I did I'd be confident of Dropbox and of Evernote.

Vallis - how do I sign up?

1209114 2011-06-15 01:54:00 dropbox was recently in the news for saying that they encrypt your data and couldn't decrypt it, even if they wanted to. Turns out if big brother wanted them to decrypt it they can after all and as such they had to back pedal a bit and change their Ts and Cs.

Regardless, I still use it as well although not for my important stuff. Most of the stuff in there can be downloaded from other places on the net anyway.

That was what I was trying to remember. They were saying that their admins couldn't access users data but it turned out to be a lie.

1209117 2011-06-15 09:03:00 Signed up and I hope you get your bonus Vallis, :D but how the hell do I share say a photo with some mates?

I don’t want them to share my computer, folders, or anything else. I don’t want them to synchronise anything either, just look at one photo if they want to.

What am I missing here?
