1209357 2011-06-15 03:01:00 Hi, have anyone used the antennas you get from Mitre 10 or Bunnings? Easy to install and good strength? I know they have diff ones with differing strengths.

If we get a contractor to install one along our preset VHF how much do they cost abouts?

:thanks

1209359 2011-06-15 03:22:00 Need to know if they are easy to install, have not installed a tv aerial before :D Bro did get a non amplified indoor aerial but that only got 10% signal strength with a laptop's USB tuner. Despite only being 15km from Wellington CBD.

I might just try to plug in our Sky dish into the USB and see if it works ;)

Edit and oh how Speedy gets good reception with the free miniture aerial from his tv card. We have that with the USB device. Didn't get squat from home, maybe 10% reception. Took it to the Wellington Watefront and still wasn't able to.

1209360 2011-06-15 03:28:00 It's the fine tuning of the position. If you can see other aerials when you put yours up then generally you just point them in roughly the right direction then fine tune with someone watching the TV and shouting instructions gary67 (56)
1209361 2011-06-15 03:46:00 DVB-T is just aerial, not dish right? maybe that is why is it not coming up with channels now .... Nomad (952)
1209362 2011-06-15 04:29:00 Yup DVB-T is aerial not dish Speedy Gonzales (78)

1209364 2011-06-15 06:45:00 Hi,
We brought a PX Digital indoor TV antenna from Dick Smiths cost us $69.98, sales guy didn't think it would work and was very anti us buying it.Plugged it in moved it around the room and now get all the free-view channels.Slips in and out occasionally but compared to the price of a new outside antenna I think it's great.
I think the Dick Smith part number was L4075

1209365 2011-06-15 07:00:00 We tried the non amplified (than yours), part number L4017. Bro tried it with 10% reception, when I did it ziltch.

Might have some time to try install one, well DSE has a refund policy in case I just couldn't install it.

How do you wire it to the existing VHF? Reason is that VHF is our backup aerial, we don't plan on getting a Freeview deck right now, the main TV is with std Sky dish. And what about splitting it and running an extra lead to a bedroom?

At preset the VHF has two leads, - lounge and master bedroom but might put one more to anothe bedroom.

1209366 2011-06-15 10:46:00 It's all very subjective people. Can't just say 'this aerial works great! everyone get one!' because it depends on your position in relation to the transmitter. What works great for you might not work at all for your next door neighbor. pine-o-cleen (2955)
