1462293 2019-07-13 11:55:00 Hi. I have a Canon MG7560 Printer that is refusing to be used and any attempt I have made to find what the "Support Code b203" is has uncovered nothing.
I have scoured the net for Canon Support Codes, found them and nowhere is there a mention of that B203.
Seaching for the B203 I watched many videos that people uploaded of Hit and miss process of elimination by putting small squares of tape over the copper contacts on the ink tanks to removimg the ink tanks and taking out the Printing Head, washing it in soapy water and then Isopropyl to get all ink removed from the Printing head,
instuctions given to "Turn off the printer/remove the poewer cable from it and also from the wall socket (huh???? now that one really got me thinking about logic)/ open the lid/ remove the ink tanks/ reconnect the power cable/turn the machine on/ let it cycle for a minute/ open the lid/replace the ink tanks/.... and it should be ok....well it's all cobblers.
After I turn on the power the Touch screen lights up and shows the Copy/ Scan / Cloud icons for about 2 seconds and then its the Red screen with Notification says "Support Code B203. An error has occured.
The printer needs repair. Turn the device off and unplug the power cord from the power supply. Then see the Manual and contact the Service Centre".
Apart from an illuminated Power touch symbol and the Touchscreen's Error notification the only other symbol illuminated is an Orange Triangle with a lightening bolt inside it.
I haven't used the printer or had it connected to computer for 12-15 months. I put new inktanks in it before I used it last and only printed my own designed images onto 12-15 CD and DVD inkjet printable Discs. Since that day it has not been used or connected to computer.
Prior to that the only use it had was in the first week I bought the machine, new and boxed from a major Store, about 3.5 year ago and I did one long session of printing images to 50-60 Inkjet printable CD's for a person who wanted his entire Music collection duplicated. There were also about a dozen DVD's music concerts.
After that it saw very little use for a few months and needed a replacement inktank or two. Then I bought a new set of Calidad cartridges (Only the 3 colour set as the BK and GY and PGBK were ok)...I paid no heed to the Canon 'Warnings' of damaging the device if I do NOT use THEIR inks. Yeah yeah yeah. There is a reptable store in town here that has been in business for years and they refill Inktanks and they work without any problems at all.
If they didn't the shop would be out of business. Simple as that really.
The ink tanks/pads have not dried up on the outlets of them...touch the pads with tissue and it shows all colours and the 2 Blacks and Crey.
I do an ink-check using the function to do so and all cartridges show as totally empty. A full set of Canon 651 and 650 XL cartridges costs $300 close enough and I can get the Calidads for $25 (3 colours)and buy Calidad Blacks and grey for about the same price ($50 all in)
Or I can get the full set non XL size from the refill store for $98 BUT I am not eager to do any of them because I do not know What the "Error" that needs to have me contact the Service Centre is. It may not be the inks at all. For $300 I can buy a new printer with Inks in it as long as it has the capability to print onto CD/DVD inkjet printable discs.
When I was looking on the net last night re: the B203 Error I had a webpage open and it was from a technician asking me to describe the problem. I thought it was Canon. Well I typed in the basic issues and error code, and then I had two techs asking questions which I answered. Then up pops a window requesting that I enter my bank card number and CVV code and for $8 I get a weeks one on one connection to the Engineers. Well I don't usually just give out my bank card 16 digit number AND the Secret PIN
to an unknown rquester on the internet. So I closed down the page. I dunno if that $8 was NZ or American...most likely it would have been American. I check my Bank and find out what the Debit amount was
because I had the same thing happen today and I threw caution to the wind and submitted my details. The first tech I got asked me to explain the issue, I did and he then asked if I had done the "Turn it on, turn it off , remove cartridges, and bla bla bla...I said I did that last night but as I'd paid $8 i said I follow his steps and get back to him in 5 mins..... when I returned and said its still no go, he didn;t reply. I gave him 10 mins and then typed in that I am requesting a new Tech.
The new Tech had claim to 20 years in the industry, I asked if he had read all that has gone before...he then proceeded to tell ne that if I have two different brands of inks in that can cause the B203 error.
I told him all one brand of inks are installed, we got involved in the Negation of my warranty thing if I do not use Genuine Canon inks bla bla bla. yeah yeah yeah.
Then I got a message come up from him, Like a business card with his pic and details and it said He will come into my computer and have a look at the issue, Cost $63:00. Oh you want to remote connect to my computer now do you?...Nah thanks.
In the end I said to him look, this entire issue is absurd. Your telling me if one ink is run out then nothing will work well why is it not telling me that in the damn B203 Error I getting and why does it show in the "Trouble shooter" I used that "The device has an error" and then gives a No Issues found for all the tests it performed???
Screwball for sure. Not him just the Canon Useless Manual I looking into online and I get diverted to an online "Ask" site.
As for Canon NZ, I called them and they are 9 to 5 Monday to Friday only. Wonderful Service, can't complain about non existence of such a thing.
Would anyone have any idea what this elusive B203 Support Code is ? What it actually points to being an error in the Machine? Why does it suddenly Develop an Error the first time it gets a lttle tickle of power voltage for the first time in 12-15 months?
Maybe it had thought I had replaced it with a younger Model? The mind boggles.
All the things I tried were for the videos and suggestions relating to Support Code B200..... because nothing exists for B203.
Yep I got charged twice,,,$5 first and thats for them having to "Check my Bank Debit card exists" they all charge that $5 that they never mention to the person doing the paying...had it happen a few years ago when I was signing up on telephone to ISP and after they took the $5 there was not enough money available for them to supply me with Internet because I only had the $98 that was needed to get the first month paid for upfront... hahahahahhaha its true, I had to wait a week and call them again!
And then after that $5 taken there is $8.50 taken..... $8 and most likely 50cents for my paying by bank card! God almighty.
Anyway...anyone....have any knowledge on Support Code B203 for Canon Devices (MF Printers/scanners all in one machines?. :(:(

edit: the last tech and I agreed that if I have to send the device to Canon to have them look at it and do a repair well its going to cost me more than buying a new device.
Cheers...I'm chuffed … A $600 device and $200 in inks and All I got from it was 75-80 CD/DVD discs with a pretty pic printed on them. At $10 a printed disc I'd never be able to survive in business.

1462294 2019-07-13 13:02:00 Considered trying Hard Reset, Google for a How to Do it and its all thee but the problem is that the Devices they show in the video have all got actual tabs/buttons that can be pushed to do the Reset. On my MG7560 all the 'buttons' are non existent because they are Touch Sensors or whatever they are and they only flash for about half a second when I turn on the device and then there is mothing visible apart from the Error screen notice, the Power light and the Orange triangle meaning 'Error' ………………. I am wondering if its a Controller fault and no signal being sent to the devices function lights to use anything. Or..... I read in a page something to do with a 'License' fee!...Now that wouldn't surprise me in the least if there is a hidden in the invisible print some clause about having to Pay a Yearly License fee to use the Device and If I don't then the machine has an inbuilt timer powered by a capacitor and it 'Locks down" and ceases to work until I "Contact Service Centre". I may well be dumping the device if I can't get it to light up like it did 12-15 month ago.
Here are the links to the vids showing hard resets. None of which I can do as I said because my device has no actual 'Buttons' to push.

1462295 2019-07-13 21:05:00 I suppose you saw this when you were investigating ----

So I just want to post my solution finally after a while of trying some of the solutions on the internet and none worked for me. I simply could not throw my MG 7540 Pixma just like that. So to summarize it in short follow these steps and you may be as lucky as I have.
While the printer is off, open the front cover where the ink is. Now turn on the printer wait till the ink head starts moving a bit then just shut the cover back to normal. You should see canon logo now. Wait a minute or two and you should be back to normal menu. Now if you try to print anything the error might come again in which u repeat the steps above. Next go to settings/ maintenance settings / auto head allignment. And start the process let it finish and follow any instructions it may ask. Once done it will print a test page and tadaaaaa! it works. You can do a few more maintenance checks if you want to keep your printer in mint condition. Sounds simple yes but I just followed my gut feeling. And it worked. Hope it helps someone .

Hi and cheers. I will give it a run in a few mins once I have woken properly and had my morning cuppa. Yeah, as I said, not having the 'Menu' appear on the computer touchscreen has my hands tied. I will be back to report the result shortly.

1462297 2019-07-13 23:46:00 Bryan, hi. I tried your suggestion twice both times and received a new "Support Code :C000. Printer error has occurred. Follow the steps below. 1/ Check that there are no foreign objects or protective materials in the device. 2/ Check that ink tanks are installed correctly.
There are no foreign objects inside the printer and the tanks are all seated correctly".
Googling the C000 Support Code and it too is elusive. I think tomorrow I contact Canon Service Centre.
Thanks for you input.

I was very happy to find your video, though, unfortunately, it has not worked for me. My Pixma MG6620 keeps giving me the B203 error code and it won't print. It's actually quite new and we use it lightly, but Canon support says that it is a hardware problem. I'm skeptical, though, because nothing has happened for the printer to break. It hasn't even been moved since we bought it. Would you have any insight on this? I've seen many people on the internet who are having the same problem. I'd much appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you! "

Probably is then .
My brothers died, print head issue . Nothing at all happened first, It was turned off, unplugged and moved to a new desk . Turned it back on and dead .

Took it in and not economic to replace the print head so he bought another of the same model .

1462300 2019-07-14 04:17:00 Where you mentioned in the first post:

If they didn't the shop would be out of business. Simple as that really. That means absolutely nothing. I wish I had $$ for every time I had to look at Canon printers with various errors -- OH WAIT I DO !! :D

MANY time third party or refilled cartridges give problems. Some worse than others.

While some people don't have any problems there's about as many that DO.

NOT saying that's the problem BUT ----- IF you ring Canon Support don't be at all surprised if they wont help if you are not using genuine cartridges.

I used to have a very old but very good HP Office printer, unless you used HP Inks it didn't want to know about it. I tried 3 different refilled sets from Cartridge world before I finally told him I'm not using that crap, give me genuine or refund (not paying extra as it took 3 trips so far to replace them) Put in Genuine - Worked perfectly.

:+1:

Our Epson printer would have all sorts of issues, which all magically went away when we started using genuine ink again.

1462302 2019-07-14 07:40:00 Yes - but it is not the ink that is the problem, it is HP and Epson etc who are going out of their way to cause problems with refills. decibel (11645)
