| 1461908 | 2019-07-02 03:46:00 | Hi guys. I'm after a hard drive, to replace one I have in an external case. I've located a 2.5" Segate 250 GB, date code says 26July 2011, for $24.50 with postage Do you think this would be okay? :thanks |

And I recently bought 2 used drives off Geekzone, both older, one a 2.5" and one 3.5". Working just fine, I have a docking station I use them in. Any drive can fail, and eventually will, just keep backups on more than one and you're good. |

I seem to recall that the bacup drive should be twice as big as the system hard drive. |

Do not waste money on an ancient used HD when you can plug in a brand new external HD for very little |

| 1461914 | 2019-07-02 21:57:00 | No. is the best answer :) laptop HD's often get a lot of abuse, they often dont last as long as desktop HD's. That used HD is far too old, it may be OK but I wouldnt trust it . Just spend the $100 & get a new USB HD . Or at least buy a new 2.5 HD , they arnt that expensive. PB Tech often sell 2.5 inch drives that were removed from new laptops (when upgraded to SSD) . |
