2019-06-28 06:28:00 | Since I installed Windows 10 on my Toshiba Tecra laptop it has gone so slow that I want to go back to Win XP as I only use it for playing Youtube through the tv. I have the system disc and all I want to know is how easy is it to reinstall. What do I need to know?

2019-06-28 08:07:00 | XP may also be to old. According to youtubes specs- you need W7 or newer Or even Linux, other wise sort out W10 so it runs better. Some premium content on YouTube -- like movies, TV shows, and live events -- require a faster connection and greater processing power to ensure optimal streaming speeds. Here's what you'll need: Most recent version of Google Chrome, Firefox, MS Edge, or Safari Operating system: Windows 7+, Mac OS X 10.7+, or Ubuntu 10+ Internet connection with 1+ Mbps Got a Laptop myself I was given as the person didn't want it,saying it was to slow, told them I could get it going a lot better but they had already brought a new on, changed the HDD to a SSD --- Its Spec: Celeron, 128GB SSD and From Memory ( excuse the pun) 4GB Memory, Windows 10 Home, turn off all the items that don't need to run, disable a few other things -- Runs perfectly fine. IF you wanted to still use XP - (Bad Idea) you would need to go to the Toshiba's site and download all the drivers. The "System Disc" if its a straight copy of XP you'll need the drivers as above, if its a recovery Disc they will be included. Simply boot from the media, wipe out all partitions, then follow instructions it gives.

2019-06-28 08:28:00 | I have a Toshiba Tecra R850. It too was slow with both Win7 and later Win10. I put and SSD in instead of the mechanical drive and it now just fly's. A 126G SSD is cheap enough but I put in a 246 Crucial, about $54 from PBTech. Very nice! Me, I wouldn't even contemplate going back to an earlier OS. | Bryan (147) | |

I spent years cleaning out fully patched, up to date machines. Two things: 1)Antimalware protection - scanning 2)Common sense by user, and this is the biggest cause of infections, people clicking on stuff. |

2019-07-01 00:49:00 | 10,000 kittens will die if you dare to use XP for Youtube. :badpc: Honestly, XP will be fine , its only for viewing YT . DONT waste any money on trying to upgrade an XP era laptop , dont waste $ on a SSD for it ,you may still have issues from lack of RAM, lack of grunt, or RAM limits on that laptop: My XP laptop only supports 2Gb max ram, so upgrading that would have been a waste of effort . Youtube might eventually refuse connection due to old versions of FF/IE/Chrome ? So try & find a Browser that still supports XP .
