| 1466481 | 2020-03-12 06:10:00 | 10236 Countdown, Johnsonville - 2 days ago :( I didn't take any pics, but a few hours ago I was shopping at Countdown, Mt Wellington (Auckland), and there were at least 4 pallets of toilet rolls in the aisles . As well, all the usual shelves were fully stocked . For a largish consideration, I can courier some down to you if need be :clap A neighbour who is a courier driver for a specialist courier service is complaining their business is impacted (not by any increased traffic in toilet rolls - that hasn't happened), but general commerce is reduced . I can't think but hark back to the stockmarket crash of the 80's . Where we saw Wall Street brought to its knees, and we were fed panic buying in our NZ stock exchange . . . images of youngsters (circa 25 yo) reacting as they only thought they should, emulating the chaotic scenes from overseas: Sell! Sell! Sell! In the event, they knocked millions off the value of local stock in what really turned out to be a global adjustment that never impacted on us anyway . Methinks there is some inadvised kneejerk reactions in the current coronavirus scare . Think politics, think power brokering, think appallingly inept reporting by worldwide media . Think grandstanding by our politicians . . . |
