1465721 2019-12-30 22:56:00 I’m just curious how many of you would actually be brave enough to say it to a group of Maori people and see what the reaction is. My bet is you would probably not have the guts to say it. QW. (15883)

Not a group, but when talking to some people if they use Maori and I cant get the jist of it I say - Sorry but I don't understand Maori, what does that mean please, Every time its gone - ok and use english. It all depends on how you approach it, if you get all aggro the response will be the same. wainuitech (129)
1465723 2019-12-31 00:07:00 I have a few maori friends. They use words often, if I don't know it, I say what is "x". and they just say (whatever it is). No-one gets offended, I have learned a few words now so I know what it is.

I have no intention of taking up study of it, but nor does it bother me if they do it.
I was also in a butchers yesterday, and a lady there was doing it, english/persian? I think? So, not my problem, the one she was talking to wasn't having an issue so why should I care?

get over it.....
Nz is multicultural now but maori were here first.

Well, second.- but they very wisely avoided treaties with the people they stirred up and used a different form of settlement.

Yes, as A.B (Banjo) Patterson wrote in his poem on "The Maori Wool".

"They Pacified their conquered foes,
by eating every one."

1465729 2020-01-01 19:38:00 Yes, the Moriori....although some maori will tell you they were on the Chathams, regardless the difference between them wasn't that huge so lets just say maori and not nitpick. piroska (17583)
1465730 2020-01-01 20:40:00 And the Taranaki Maoris charted a ship went over and killed most of them. I have told my kids if they speak Maori or do that exaggerated maoris pronunciation they will be down the road. They aint living in my house anymore. prefect (6291)
