1466175 2020-01-24 05:32:00 Why?

I used to hate them, mainly how long they took.

But as I said, it has the eco mode so no different in time.

It washes better, it dries better, it's quieter.
It's great all round.

Till it leaks and floods your shack.

1466176 2020-01-24 07:12:00 Top loaders do that too and more often gary67 (56)

I don't own a shack. And we have had leaks from dishwashers, over flowing sinks, taps and top loaders, so no, doesn't really explain your hatred of them.

1466178 2020-01-25 00:40:00 I've never seen a top loading dishwasher before :) Zippity (58)

piroska, you may recall the above type of washing machine.

Sister-in-law bought one in 1953 and I think it lasted for 40 years from memory. She loved the quick wringer release feature, if you should ever get your hand caught-in with the washing.

1466180 2020-01-25 07:41:00 What puts me off front loaders is bending down to load and empty them. I'd want to lift it up a foot or two if I owned one. But then I'm quite tall and the world mostly caters to short people (not a complaint, just true). dugimodo (138)

Not really any different than reaching down into a top loader though.

Now that most front loaders now have that extra drop down to put that errant sock in after its started they are better in my opinion, top loaders are known to damage clothes as I have found out to my cost.

Lurking, yes my mum had one. I have used them, and I have had my hand in the wringer. They were the safety wringers, apparently way before, early 1900s? They did not pop out and people did injure themselves.

Yes they beat hand washing. My mum resisted getting an auto for ages. But you go to work and do washing that way, it takes ages, start and forget became the thing.

My mum has severe spinal arthritis, bending is not a good thing for her, but she hasn't found it a problem. She insists on doing the washing, one of the few things left she can do so I leave it to her mostly.

If you were especially tall I suppose you could either put it on a platform or buy a commercial one.

Front loaders are becoming a thing because of the water usage if nothing else. Like manual cars are slowly disappearing.

Stuff changes, whether we want it to or not.

1466183 2020-01-25 20:11:00 You read a manual?
Such a chick.

Damn right.
While my brother watched the Youtube video.
I hate that, can read faster anyway.

1)Remove transport bolts.
While husband stood there saying no you shouldn't undo that, whats that etc?

Once they were out it was very clear that was very important, wouldn't have done it much good running it with them still in.

Plus I wanted to know what the difference between cycles were, what the cover down the bottom was for (blockage access hatch), and if you could put temp setting on permanent or not (no), eco setting (yes) etc.

When I bought my car it had no manuals, I spent ages online finding one it was a bit obscure. Found the entire workshop manual eventually, very handy when you need to know, how do you access the X, how do you get at Y and so on.

Not so handy that it isn't in book form and hence no index, but all the pages are there, so thats OK. I then spent ages and ages renaming each file so I don' have to guess, now I can just click on the relevant section.

I like to know.

1466184 2020-01-25 20:12:00 And as SIL just bought the same type of car, she has been ringing me saying how do you, whats this, and such, so I mailed her some of the relevant pages. piroska (17583)
