1462303 2019-07-14 09:14:00 Interesting article - Including the comments. ;) compatible-cartridges/ (www.tonergiant.co.uk)

Actually got a Canon PIXMA iP4700 From a customer (for disposal) -- They have had it for years, always used Canon Cartridges - No problems, decided to use "Compatible" --- With in a month the printer started having all sorts of Errors and problems ?? Now even with Genuine Cartridges it still plays up even worse. Only detect 2 of the 5 Inks :(

Coincidence - I Think Not ;)

1462304 2019-07-14 12:43:00 Oki doki to all who have replied. I decided to remove the print head and clean it. I used water and Mr Muscle because I didn't have Isopropyl or a Window cleaner liquid tat contained Ammonia. I have spent 5 hours washing them out, letting a new mix of Mr Muscle and water soak through the head and into a tray. Then apply a fresh few mils of the mix and on and on it went for 5 hours. There was a LOT of Black coming out in the liquid...black/dark red colour a little yellow and Cyan...anyway its done now, the liquid passing the head into the tray was clear. The printing head is now hung up in front of my heatpump in a nice 22 deg flow of warm air and in an hour I am going to replace the print head and inks and see what result I get.
I don't wish to argue about the "USE the GENUINE INKS for the Make of the Device" because it is well known fact that the makers of Printers make their money from the Sale of INKS. And they want the person/s who purchased their Printer to Buy The "Genuine Inks" Canon are the most expensive and they will throw every bit of Fear/intimidation and Treat at the people who have bought a Canon device to 'Force' them to buy the 'Genuine inks". I don't do enough printing to warrant my spending $300 on a set of Inks that will dry out and clog the jets / heads before I use the ink. The printer will use 90% of the ink doing its weekly Clean outs and Tests. If it is connected to power and turned on. Mine wasn't. I can go to the Library and get a doubled sided A4 page of text for 20 cents, and I can go to Warehouse Stationary and take images in .pdf format and get 6 full colour prints of artwork to use as Inserts for CD/DVD Slim cases at the correct dimensions for $2.80 for the six images on one sheet of glossy paper. I can't print them for that myself.
About 4-5 year ago before I bought the Canon I now have, I was looking online at an amazing array of plastic bags each containing 500 or 750mils of a printing ink and each of them were connected via its own plastic tube to the printer where a cartridge would normally be, was called something like "Permanent Ink" … I have searched for it mot long ago but cannot find it now. I have one bag of Magenta here that my neighbour gave me 5-6 year ago but alas I cannot find it at present which is a shame because it would have the Brand name on it :D
I am hoping that the print head clean gets the show on the road again....was / is worth the try because I had nothing else to do apart from seethe at Canon and their "Bo advice online or anywhere re: the B203 Support (ERROR) Code...or the C000 Supp.....Error Code.
I found a good video on how to remove the print head from a canon...was for a different model than the one I Have... (was for the MG 7750 model and to my eye it looked identical to the MG 7560 I have)
Also watched some vids about cleaning the head, best one was a guy took the print head outside and used a garden hose to put it over the nozzles on each ink receptor and force the ink/s out through the printing plate. I don't have a garden hose...another method used a 5 or 10 mil Syringe and a short length o hose from a model airplane shop to force cleaning liquid into the ink receptors that had showed bad printing in the test sheets that ya get when do the tests.
All very interesting.
Now I am going to get the print head, replace it and the inks and see if its saved from the recycle truck.
Ciao :D

1462306 2019-07-14 15:38:00 Oki doki…….. After reassembly of print head and ink tanks the deice actually functions is as much as it makes like it is setting itself up and doing the warm-up processes. I have to have the cover open for it to do that and it says to close the cover but I want to see how far it gets. It showed on the screen that it was setting up and I thought it was gong to do a Test Print. It didn't, I close the cover and it then shows the B203 error and notice to tur off etc and contact support.
3 restarts and I use computer to get it to do a Test print...it starts and then shows a window saying that Inks are needed.... The PGBK, and the 3 colours, Yellow, Cyan and Magenta.
Tomorrow I will go purchase the inks. All of those ink takes showing as empty are the 4 that have the flashing Red lights, the other Black and Grey ink tanks have a stable red light.
Hee hee…. Those two tanks, the black and grey are from refills from Cartridge world, The PGBK is original Canon 650XL and the Yellow/Cyan and Magenta are Calidad if my memory serves me right. I remember being hacked off with the pathetic amount of CD's I printed to and the computer showed I was out of coloured inks and I had only printed 12 CD inkjet printable discs where as when I did the first run of CD/DVD prints using the original Canon inks that came loaded into the printer when I bought it, I did the run of 60-70 Discs and the Cyan had run out on the very last CD I was printing... that is why the printer has not been used for 12-15 months....I intended to get replacements but as I didn't have immediate need of them, time passed by and the printer simply sat on the shelf of my Computer desk, 'til I disconnected it all and put it aside
So tomorrow I will go buy the 4 inks and see if I get a working machine.

1462307 2019-07-14 15:41:00 more pics showing the Troubleshooter finding No Issues but saying the Printer has a problem :D
Am pleased to say that I actually got the printer to start to do a test print. Before I did the print head clean it wouldn't do anything at all. So, progress is being made.

1462308 2019-07-14 17:28:00 Well well well, I now have a Menu and I can do things, like Reset, Firmware update. check firmware version, ………...I did the Reset...then I navigated to the Test Print...was informed that needs ink, said to continue, and after a minute or so I was served an A4 sheet of paper that only showed 2 black lines about 1.5mmx 10mm and 20mm apart and a Grey rectangle 485mm x 10mm. The two black lines were actually a dark grey, so that will be the Bk ink...the PGBK is empty. And as the Yellow/Cyan and Magenta are empty well it won't print a test pattern for those either.
I was looking for how to hard reset my MG7560 and found a vid to fix the B200 Error (Support Code) I had tried versions of it before when I trying to fix the B203 Error Code I was getting but as I don't have 'Buttons' to push on the MG7560 I couldn't do the 'fix'. This one I tried was not for the Canon Model I have but I tried it because it was so damn simple I couldn't let it go past :D
As soon as I closed the Cover I had a stable display in the Printer screen and I could drag it left-right and get into choosing functions.
Here is a the link to the vid that I watched and used.

The printer will use 90% of the ink doing its weekly Clean outs and Tests. Buy a Laser, sure they are a more expensive to start, *SEE NOTE, BUT the Toners don't evaporate, you don't lose any because of "clean outs", you can leave them for months and months and not lose anything, worst you may have to do is remove them and give them a shake (very rarely though). Yes the toners also may be more expensive to start with, but at least you get to use them and not waste money on having to replace empty non used inks.

My Colour laser, is approx 3 years (maybe even 4) old and use it most days, only replaced the toners once, just checked and they still have 40%

NOTE: depending on when you buy them, some of the big stores like Harvey Norman etc have good sales, with a cashback I got mine for around $120, normal price at the time was about $300.

Then throw that Canon into the trash & buy an Epson inkjet . Thats what I did. :)
Canon are the worst printer for wasting ink with cleaning cycles.

And yes , ink is a rip off, thats where they make the profit.
The company I used to work for was importing compatible inkjet carts for 50c each. Compare that to the up to $50 each genuine can sell for .

1462311 2019-07-15 01:00:00 Yes - but it is not the ink that is the problem, it is HP and Epson etc who are going out of their way to cause problems with refills.

decibel, hi. They all do it...……. unfortunately

hi. I remember a bus driver telling me to get a Laser printer before I bought the canon. I had been considering getting one but the Canon I bought had the Print to CD/DVD inkjet function.
I got mine for a song really.... I phoned around town to major stores, only place had one was Warehouse Stationary in City.... it was reduced cost because it had been used as a Display item, never used and it was on special because of that, 75% reduced cost. $58.60... I wanted it but had no money til the next day and the young lady at the counter was happy to have it tucked away behind the counter for me overnight. When I went to pay for it and take it home she said "And you get a $60:00 Cashback as well"...I had to apply online to Canon stating Model/Serial number and proof of purchase...… at the end of the day when I got the $60.00 cashback into my bank account, I paid $8.60 for the device. It had a full set of Canon inks with it.
Yeah, I may check around for a Lazer printer.... I check local and online Computer Supplies...I usually use Computer Lounge so yeah, could be worth a look....especially as they don't do all those cleaning cycles and the non evaporation of the toners that you mentioned.
I was just about to go buy the 4 inks I need. What I need to print I can do at Warehouse Stationary for $2.60..... it is just a insert for a DVD case, not the Slim type the Case that holds 2 Discs.
Cheers.
