Not quite ... Her Maj and Phil the Greek are holed up somewhere in a semi-convenient castle; Chuck tested positive but his better half is OK; the current debacle with randy Andy has been eclipsed; and we're not getting fed any more BS about that bratish Harry and his American B grade actress. The only sane members, Will and Kate are just keeping on keeping out of trouble and plodding their boring way through it all. :groan:

New Zealand had about 48,000 influenza cases in the 2008 flu season – 42% of which were type A – and approximately 100 deaths a year directly attributed to influenza viruses .

On 21 October, the Ministry of Health announced that the total number of death attributed to swine flu was 19 . As of 7 July, there are 1195 confirmed cases .

The region housing the largest number of swine flu patients is Wellington followed by Auckland then Canterbury
The Waikato comes in at a distant forth , followed closely by Bay of Plenty/Lakes

Hawke's Bay, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Nelson and Marlborough are tied


International Update – June 2009

On the 12 June 2009 the United Nations declared the spread of the influenza virus around the world had reached pandemic levels . The global pandemic alert level is now at its highest – phase six – an indication of its geographical spread, not its severity .


As of 17 . 00 GMT, 15 June 2009, 76 countries officially reported 35,928 cases of Influenza A (H1N1) infection and 163 deaths . Cases below are confirmed by WHO laboratory testing .

The study showed that the inequalities in influenza deaths are striking:

In the key 65-79 year age group, Māori are 3 . 6 times more likely to die of influenza than those of European/other ethnicity . And Pacific People are 2 . 4 times more likely to die compared with European/others during a typical flu season .

Those living in the most deprived 20 per cent of neighbourhoods are almost twice (1 . 8 times) as likely to die of influenza compared with those living in the least deprived areas .

Men are also more vulnerable, with males aged 65-79 years almost two times (1 . 9 times) more likely to die of influenza than females .

The estimated average mortality rate was 13 . 5 per 100,000 people

Circulatory illness caused the largest proportion of influenza deaths,

Let's get Crusher Collins to hug the sufferers. That should get any self-aware virus heading for the coast at the speed of blight. ;)
