They have the announcements in English and maori. Why? Who is on the train who 1. understands maori and 2. understands maori but does not understand English? What a complete wasted effort! Why on earth do they do it? Surely they could put their time to a much better use? What a load of rubbish!:annoyed: | Roscoe (6288) | ||

| 1465708 | 2019-12-29 23:49:00 | I recommend replacing the Maori Language with Swahili to exponentially improve your chances of communication in a language other than English. 10135 |

| 1465709 | 2019-12-30 00:00:00 | Unlike Maori everyone understands English :) So let's change that. Māori is part of our culture and identity, and it would be a shame to loose knowledge of the language. It's things like this that's helping keep it alive. If you don't like it, tune it out like every other announcement. |

| 1465710 | 2019-12-30 00:10:00 | I say make English the ONLY official language of New Zealand. Maori is an old outdated language suitable for use on their Marae only. If you want to preserve the language, just saying place names is not going to cut it. Even Maoris at work places don't speak it. Time to move on not backwards. |
