1238143 2011-10-17 22:04:00 I would like to have the state of the art computer hutch but don't know what to get. Money is no object. I have a huge computer hutch, top of the line computer which I built myself with a 28 inch monitor, laser printer, 13 port USB hub, all kinds of Hard Drives and a couple with USB 3, Mic, Head set, great speakers, several digital picture frames, great webcam for my diary and Skype, a nice digital camera with 10,000 pictures, 8 backups, well you get the picture. I'm just an old man with too much time and too much money. Any ideas what I can add or better yet I should try and learn some things. I'm a retired network MIS manager from Silicon Valley but high school kids know 10 times more than I do about what’s going on in this day and age. Any ideas what I can do or learn. I don't have any friends or family because their all dead so I need to make some and well any help or ideas would be nice.

1238145 2011-10-17 22:53:00 A hutch?

Your computer is a rabbit?

I don't understand... are you asking about a computer case or a workstation\desk or such?

1238146 2011-10-17 23:06:00 Hutch??? Thing to put it in? I don't like enclosed desk compartments, nasty for airflow or lack of it.
Put it on top or on another table or whatever, the hardware is what matters.

1238147 2011-10-17 23:25:00 I'd suggest start with the ultimate in chairs, as you and your comfort are the one item that can't be designed to fit, and then design everything else to fit around that...

Don't forget however that you still need easy access to and from the chair, so don't design things too tight around your throne.

If by Hutch you mean a computer table, get one that suits your needs, but also has adequate space, and will allow airflow in and out of the computer case and monitor, so nothing overheats.

1238149 2011-10-18 12:17:00 Hutch is like a desk but it has something like a bookshelf built on to it for more room. I have so much stuff that a computer desk would completely be out of the question unless I want to put up several talbes with all my stuff on them which would look like crap. Are there really people here that don't know what a computer hutch is? lostsoul62 (16011)
1238150 2011-10-18 12:30:00 I get what you mean, and it was what i was thinking. goodiesguy (15316)

I know what it is but I have never called it a hutch nor heard it called one.

The term 'Workstation' is what I have always heard.

In either case, I see from looking up photos they often come with a cupboard for your computer - as someone else said, NOT good for airflow\cooling!

Well I have a desk, but the computer doesn't sit on it. next to the desk is a large set of drawers (filled with more PC stuff) and it sits on that.

So why not go see a cabinet maker and get him to custom build you something then?
