1211069 2011-06-22 02:25:00 I am looking to buy a wifi radio but I'm surprised by the small range to choose from.

Things like those shown here look good but seem expensive -

and most aren't in the shops here.

I'm not interested in a DAB radio - must be wifi to my router.

Has anyone bought something like this and can recommend one?

thanks.

1211070 2011-06-22 03:21:00 My understanding is that this form of broadcast is not available in NZ.

You can listen to hundreds of overseas radio stations on itunes :) or stream many NZ stations on your web browser.

1211071 2011-06-22 04:14:00 It's not a broadcast, the radio connects to my wi-fi router then gets any radio that is on the internet. decibel (11645)
1211072 2011-06-22 04:55:00 And how is the signal going to get to your router? Zippity (58)
1211073 2011-06-22 04:56:00 Via the internet - didn't you look at the radios in the links in my first post ? decibel (11645)
1211074 2011-06-22 05:03:00 I think he means streaming an online radio station to the radio, like the National Radio stream. bot (15449)
1211075 2011-06-22 06:55:00 Bear with me, I am at a loss here.

Why do you want a standalone radio?

Are they available here in NZ? :(

1211076 2011-06-22 07:16:00 Looks like the Logitech is here. But its around $600. There's a few on the Playtech site (which have been reduced)

www.playtech.co.nz

Looks like the Sonus is as well but its around $1000.

or use a laptop :D

My wife likes to have a bedside radio and our current one is 38 years old. Instead of buying another AM/FM one with only the local stations to listen to, an internet one will give her 10,000+ stations

Yes, according to Speedy, but they seem horribly expensive.
