1210135 2011-06-17 23:02:00 Hi all

My Toyoace diesel 2.8 has sat for a long time and has not been started in 7 months. Don't know if this will damage the engine in any way when I try to start it so I was wondering if any experts out there can offer any advise.
Should I change the oil first? Try to crank it over without starting to build up oil pressure?

Thanks

1210136 2011-06-18 00:43:00 I had the 3L Custom Toyota Diesel. I think the fuel pump might need priming, and air bled off as well. Maybe glow plugs and circuit might need testing. Wait for Surfer Joe (PF1 member) to reply for advice, he knows and experienced tons about engines and their systems. kahawai chaser (3545)
1210137 2011-06-18 00:55:00 I'd be thinking about the elderly diesel currently in the fuel tank but then I'm not a mechanic. Snorkbox (15764)

if its anything like mine you may need to pump on the primer to get the fuel back up. if it doesn't start you may have to loosen (not take off) an injector pipe a bit and crank it over to get the air out of the lines.

1210143 2011-06-18 11:20:00 let it idle for a while as well before driving it. Once its up to temp etc give it a check over for pressure, oil temps etc and then give it a good solid run to clean it out a bit.

Then it would be a good time for a service I guess

1210144 2011-06-19 02:24:00 As far as I know the diesel should be fine in the tank, it sits around for a long time in generators etc but like others have said just start it. It won't explode! hueybot3000 (3646)
