1210388 2011-06-20 21:03:00 Don't we now have 3 feet of top course in place of the steel re-enforcing ! then the concrete pad.

As if anything is capable of withstanding the forces metered out over the past 9 months.

When did England last have a quake of any note !

Lurking.

My post was more to point out that Chch doesn't put steel in unlike Nelson, and actually my brothers town suffered mild damage from an earthquake in I think 2004. Half the chimneys in the town collapsed. That was in Kent

1210389 2011-06-20 22:04:00 I do suspect that living in Christchurch at the moment can't really be humour laden for many there.

You are probably right Snork but what do you do laugh or cry?
I can appreciate what people are going through and my heart goes out to them but at the same time I also appreciate talent and it is amazing how much talent is out there.
Laughter is the best medicine they say

Gary, you are talking "old" as in old blimey !. We loved the County when we visited in 2003, got lost in there tho, lol.

Mind you after watching Blitz Street, Kent probably felt the shock waves from those V2 rockets and we think we have it bad.

1210391 2011-06-21 00:56:00 It certainly did according to my folks both of who lived on the front line at Folkestone you could only get nearer to France by going up the road to Dover. My Dad and his mates used to sit on the hills above town and watch the V2 going by almost in touching distance gary67 (56)
1210392 2011-06-21 03:40:00 Very good article in The Press this morning by Chris Trotter. Don't always agree with him but he has this one down pat.

What is going on down under this 16,000 year old extinct volcano anyway.

Crossed over to Europe through Dover and noticed all those Ute Houses or whatever they are called, very fascinating things to say the least.

1210394 2011-06-21 03:47:00 OK . I have to ask .

How many members of PressF1 were actually born in NZ as I was?

Not that it makes any difference as all citizens are Kiwis but I was curious . A couple of weeks ago I was invited out to a do and found that of the 29 people there 24 were imports .

I was. As was my father, and his father, and his father, and his father. Rellies going back to before the clearing of the Hundred Mile Bush. Which is where they settled and farmed for many years. Some are still farming (or doing farming-related activities) down that way.

But everyone is an import if you go back far enough....

1210396 2011-06-21 04:18:00 Morioris were not an import so I'm told.

For the record I'm a fifth generation Kiwi and was born in Wellington.

1210397 2011-06-21 04:23:00 I'd be very surprised to find the Morioris evolved here.... :) johcar (6283)
