1238153 2011-10-18 21:02:00 I've never heard it called that either. Myself I got a decent corner desk and an office chair from an office supply place and mounted modular shelving on the wall behind it with custom shelves I made to allow cable access for printers etc. I Have two large monitors, a small amp, desktop speakers, a router, and a switch all sitting on my desk with plenty of space :) PC sits under the desk, in the past there have been two down there easily.

One thing I hate about many workstations or "hutches" if you like is the keyboard shelves, both the slide out and the height adjustable ones. They just don't suit me as I like to have my keyboard back from the edge quite a bit.

1238154 2011-10-18 22:19:00 Hutch is like a desk but it has something like a bookshelf built on to it for more room. I have so much stuff that a computer desk would completely be out of the question unless I want to put up several talbes with all my stuff on them which would look like crap. Are there really people here that don't know what a computer hutch is?

I have heard of a hutch as in "hutch dresser". As you are in America, and not NZ, you have different names for stuff. We would call it a workstation most likely.

1238156 2011-10-19 05:52:00 Any ideas what I can do or learn. I don't have any friends or family because their all dead so I need to make some and well any help or ideas would be nice.Have you asked around your town if there is a computer education group that you could help out at? We have a Senior Net group for senior citizens to learn how to use computers- there may be something similar. Topics such as internet use, emailing, using word processing or even creating photo books could be taught. You certainly don't need to know it all and meeting up with regulars could lead to new friends and opportunities.

If you want to learn something new yourself, why not check out Linux.

Thanks for the information. I just need to get off my butt and do something like you suggest. I know a lot about computers but need to brush up. Also Computer hutch is an old terminology which means horizontal and vertical for your computer stuff. My computer sits on the ground and I'm going to put my 2nd one on the top ledge where my laser printer is at. You would be surprise how my you can put on a "Large corner Computer Hutch" like a 28" monitor with Two 15" digital photo frames at each side.

1238159 2011-10-21 22:59:00 If you like computers why not give electronics a go?

Arduinos for example seem to be a pretty popular and interesting way to get started at the moment
