I thought I was gonna run outta gas around National Park at around 1am.... and there were like no gas stations open till I reached Tamaranui.

1210798 2011-06-20 11:27:00 In summer, go up to Te Urewera National Park and spend a couple of nights at Lake Waikaremoana. somebody (208)
1210799 2011-06-20 11:31:00 After throwing Gumboots in Taihape ( if it's on at the time you come ) turn right and head North to Tokoroa where I'll be pleased to show you about. Unique to Tokoroa are our talking poles ( Sculptures ) of which we have 44 at the moment.

If you want to look at Forestry I have access to some working foretry sites and hopefully we can get a PressF1 member meeting here too.

Tirau has corrugated iron to look at as well.

The link below has what's about in the South Waikato and I don't work for the Council as such just so Jen knows.

Been there. Done that and highly recommended!! Have a tank full of gas before you leave Wairoa.

It is gentle compared with 50 years ago.

1210803 2011-06-20 19:50:00 Is the Gentle Annie all sealed now?

Went over it 18 months ago and alot was newly sealed and getting prepared for sealing

A decent chunk of SH38 is sealed. The last bit is still gravel, but it's a relatively short drive.

SH2 going from Napier to Wairoa is also a lot nicer now than it used to be.
