1239000 2011-10-21 01:20:00 I’m sending a word doc as an attachment and don’t want my name showing if someone looks at properties
as it’s from a group of people with a group name.
I followed word instructions to change authors name and put our group name in.
M/S office button/ prepare/ properties then deleted my name before putting group name, then saved it with appropriate file name.
Emailed to another web email address opened it looked at properties looked fine until I did “Advanced Properties” and there under statistics ”Last saved by” is my name. How do I get rid of it.

This is all on a new blank doc unsaved before
Word 2007

1239001 2011-10-21 02:28:00 Any reason you're desperate to send it as a word doc and not a PDF of which it's not editable, and the properties can be removed? psycik (12851)
1239002 2011-10-21 02:46:00 Never done it before Ive only got a pdf reader
I can make it read only in Word and change the author just can find a way to do above

1239003 2011-10-21 03:01:00 Have you tried going into Word's Options and under User Information change the name in there? Pretty sure it gets this information from Windows originally so if that doesn't work try changing it in Windows options.... somewhere. FoxyMX (5)
1239004 2011-10-21 03:26:00 Never tried it in 2007 or able to look, as its now to old and I dont have it loaded on anything.

But in 2010 you click on File /Info - Check for issues - Inspect Document - inspect -- then remove what ever personal details you want.

1239005 2011-10-21 03:37:00 Word 2007 includes a save as PDF (or it's under publish) I can't remember. psycik (12851)
1239006 2011-10-22 02:09:00 Libreoffice (free - used to be openoffice) enable you to save as pdf, also had advantage of being able to open .docx as well.

1239007 2011-10-22 02:28:00 Thanks all. Just after I posted has some comp problems that took to midnight to sort out..

So for those who want to know what worked.

1) M/S office button/ prepare/ properties Change Author’s name if you want
But my name still showed in stats

2) So to get rid of all personal info
M/S office button/ prepare/inspect doc, comes up with 5 topics all with blue ticks.
Click inspect(down bottom), it goes through process then those 5 topics come up again,
all still have blue ticks except for “Documents Properties and Personal Info” that comes up
with red exclamation mark and the word remove all. Click that.
The 5 topics come again now all with ticks, so then close.

To check it has worked
M/S office button/ prepare/ properties, then doc properties, then advanced properties and you find
your name gone under stats and so has the author name..

Haven’t worked out how to keep that but doesn’t matter.

Also tried saving as pdf and yes all personal info appears to have gone,
