1238457 2011-10-19 01:45:00 I have just moved the hosting of my website from Inspire Net to Telecom (nothing against Inspire) Unfortunatly I thought that the process of moving my domain would also move my website. How stupid one can be. I have a copy of my site that I have uploaded to my Telecom domain server. This was not enough to get the site working as I now know. Apparently the code needs changing to reflect the new server/hosting account. The domain is the same. I am happy to try and fix this myself I just don't have any experiance with website construction. I am even happy to pay someone if I can find someone who is interested. (I have lost contact with the guy who made the site 10 years ago) The site is written in PHP. It appears that the companies I have been intouch with for help are not interested in this type of thing, they only what to design and host a new site. Can anyone help? carl60 (16595)
1238458 2011-10-19 02:38:00 Ok first question. Wwwwwhhhhyyyyy? InspireNet are likely to be cheaper with way better service. I have converted a number of my clients FROM Telecom to other providers because getting anything resembling good service from Telecom regarding domain name issues, website issues and so on.

I would suspect that there is a path defined somewhere in your code or config files that refers to the physical location of the files e.g. /var/virtualhosts/clients/abcdcompany/httpdocs

This will have changed from server to server and will need to be corrected.

1238459 2011-10-19 03:08:00 Hi carl60 :)

Welcome to PressF1!

Flick me an e-mail: stuartw77 at hotmail.com, and I should be able to help you fix your website for you.

Also I agree with HAL9000, Why!, would you want to move your website to Telecom!

1238460 2011-10-19 03:41:00 Why is a good question. I have a small business (me & the wife + a sub contractor) and have been with Inspire for over 10 years. I recommend them to everyone I know due to their excellent customer service. The reason for changing was that I spend 3 months of the year in europe and wanted to get outlook connected to an exchange server to streamline my email/contacts/calendar with my mobile. Inspire could not do this and Telecom had this service for a reasonable price. I jumped before I had seen how shallow the water was and now I have a cracked skull. Only one way to learn I guess. carl60 (16595)
1238461 2011-10-19 04:27:00 If that was your reasoning then I'd suggest you stick with Inspire and just use Google Mail for your Emails. Infinitely better, no migration hassles with websites / databases either, and the switch to Google Apps for your Domain (Using Gmail for yourdomain.co.nz email) is *easy* as. Chilling_Silence (9)
1238462 2011-10-19 05:29:00 Live & learn. Tied in for a year so will have to make the most of it. I have been a subscriber of PC World since the early 90's but this sort of thing just doesn't come up very often. I remember something about this awhile back, just thought it looked to complicated. I guess I need to learn to ask in a forum like this before making such a decision. carl60 (16595)
1238463 2011-10-19 21:45:00 Hey, do you get any error messages when you upload the PHP and view it in the browser (on the Telecom server)? KiwiTechie (16596)
