1211925 2011-06-25 10:44:00 As a lazy weekend project, I decided to get a website going, and marveled at how easy it was.

First up, I installed wamp, which comes with PHP support, MySQL and Apache server. After adjusting my router, editing the httpd.conf file and making a small HTML document, I was online! Of course the only way I could access my site was via my (nonstatic) IP, at least I was in the big WWW!

I then decided to try actually doing something with it. So, I thought why not a forum? I downloaded phpBB (a nice 2.7mb zip), and followed the instructions. I initially thought it was going to be a huge headache, until i saw how simple it was. All I had to do was to launch phpmyadmin.php, make a user and MySQL database named "phpbb", enter it into the install, and that was it!

After having a play around (being an admin is fun!), I got bored and removed wamp and everything as I didn't want a webserver on a laptop :p.

Still, after that fun experience, I just might set up my own little site :D

1211926 2011-06-25 12:10:00 good fun is that stuff. I remember using WAMP waaay back to get stuff like AJAX and other web content tested locally to see how it would run on a proper web server, also allowed all network PC's to use it and test on different OS's, browsers, screen resolutions etc The Error Guy (14052)

Done that, even have a PHP script to take care of the non-static IP issue :p
