| 1211515 | 2011-06-23 22:13:00 | Thought I'd share / vent about this one. Loved the first 2 games in the series so this week I got number 3 via steam (yeah it's a horrible thing but sometimes very convenient). I played for a little over an hour, was immediately annoyed at the very restrictive camera angle and the clumsy controls but I started to get the hang of it and began enjoying it.Graphics are good, story seems good, the 4 characters you can choose from all seems pretty cool. BUT, and this is what has me fuming enough to post here, overnight it got auto patched through steam and so after only an hour gametime they have inverted the controls and made it completely unplayable for me. A now rotates the camera to the RIGHT and D goes LEFT. On top of this insanity there is no way to change the controls in game. I can manage well enough just walking around, but as soon as combat starts I die. I find it impossible to react quickly with everything arse backwards and generally get stuck on the scenery while rapidly dying. No doubt they'll fixt it eventually, but after less than an hour of gameplay I am not happy. I don't care if they make games primarily for consoles or not. As long as It's fun and the controls don't suck I'm happy. So far this is a total failure. Sorry for the long post. Rant ends. |

| 1211517 | 2011-06-27 01:43:00 | Ok a little update for anyone interested in this game. Less than a day later they fixed the controls again so it's back to how it was. I've played for several hours now and am getting quite hooked on it. The game has a very "consoley" feel to the controls and a very restricted camera angle that annoys me, but overall I'm finding it quite enjoyable. It does have me wondering how I'd go plugging in one of my old game controllers, assuming it has support for them I see nothing in the setup screen. All in all a fairly nice looking dungeon crawl game with an good storyline so far, I just hope game developers will realise PC gamers want more flexibility in the control system and not repeat this. I was also really annoyed with Blur when I discovered it is keyboard or micrsoft XBOX 360 controller only. Not a great trend, PC's strength is the wealth of options they offer. |

That's one of the things I like about gaming on my 360 lol, the console feel to everything, when I play games via my PC (Various need for speeds, assassins creeds etc.) I use my 360 Controller, just so I can get that console feel, not sure if that was what you meant by "consoley feel" if not, post back, and I'll explain my perspective on the actual meaning behind it :p |

| 1211519 | 2011-06-28 03:23:00 | Hard to explain what I mean by "consoley" - the old games were mouse driven point and click type games and it worked fairly well but could get tedious. Traditional PC FPS games use a wasd Keyboard and mouse setup that is fairly precise when you are used to it. This game uses a similar wasd setup but a & d rotate the camera not the character - although that does tend to be the end result. It gives it a somewhere inbetween feel and is very imprecise compared to FPS type games. Anyone who is used to traditional PC FPS games tends to find Game cotrollers slow and akward by comparison, the exception being driving games, flight sims, and possibly fighting games etc. It certainly works but I feel it could be better. |
