| 1212204 | 2011-06-26 16:15:00 | How on earth does pointing out a fact, suggest he wants to cause trouble? I think the issue here is his intent, rather than the fact. The truth that's told with bad intent Beats all the lies you can invent. We've done the gay discussion here before, many, many time... This is a bit like 12v in reverse, if you will. :) |

| 1212207 | 2011-06-26 20:50:00 | Is procreate the new word for (insert ruder word here) Gary? ;-) Actually if you use something to stop having babies when you are (ahem) procreating, then the Pope is not your friend! He isn't my friend anyway since I'm not Catholic but atheist although raised as a child in the CofE (church of England). In San Francisco they reckon if you want to raise the value of any property you own invite some gay people to live in your street as they tidy the area up, crime goes down and prices of property go up |

| 1212209 | 2011-06-26 22:58:00 | In San Francisco they reckon if you want to raise the value of any property you own invite some gay people to live in your street as they tidy the area up, crime goes down and prices of property go up Oh, so that might explain why I'm so damned untidy. It's my unbridled heterosexuality coming out... which is the only thing about me that is going to come out! (other than my hair which has been coming out for decades) My best friend from high school turned out to be gay, and the guy who taught me 90% of my degree is gay, and I hold a hell of a lot of respect for him, as does most if not all of his students. I'd hold both these guys higher in my esteem than almost all the hetero guys I've ever met, who generally are shallow a-holes (spare me the gay puns on using that word). However, I've still got some inbuilt bigotry. The thought of seeing two men pashing kind of turns my gut. I don't care what they do behind closed doors, but I'd just prefer it stayed behind closed doors rather than in the public arena. As for using procreation for an arguement - the world is vastly overburdened with fornicating procreating humans. We desperately need to reduce the procreation rates, so in that sense maybe the 'evolution' of gays in society is a necessary adaptation for a world under stress. |

| 1212210 | 2011-06-26 23:05:00 | The only one thing I don't understand about the campaign for gays to have the same rights to marriage as non-gays is this: why would gays campaign so hard to join an institution that doesn't seem to be doing so well for non-gays, given the staggering rates of marriage breakdown, dissolution, re-marriage; and then even higher rates of marriage breakdown and dissolution? Gay folk must share the same rosy and overly-optimistic view of marriage that still leads non-gays to join the lemmings who have gone before them. A triumph of hope over reality... Maybe everyone goes into marriage with the same thought - "this is the real thing, and it will go on forever". |
