| 1211755 | 2011-07-15 01:00:00 | Dr Crum is full of it. The vet isn't subsidised either and I tell you it's a hell of a lot cheaper to get dental done at the vet. Not to mention they put their patients fully to sleep before doing anything. Yes I did ask my vet, thought he could put me down as a large primate. I have 2 teeth - the ones either side of the top front ones. One is nearly out cause it's been falling out for ages. The other died 2 years ago. It needed a root canal. Since I couldn't afford it and being a front on that I didn't really want out, I left it. It broke off last week, icky bits hanging out the gum. So two that need replacing. Apparently it's cheaper to rip the others (so 4 in a row to replace) than replace just the two problem ones. And that's the price, most of which is the cheap nasty replacement. Other forms of replacement are worse in cost. Have you tried the hospital. They do teeth extracting. Don't know what there fees are. :) |

| 1211756 | 2011-07-15 01:08:00 | I wonder, can we help PCTek out here? What cost are you looking at PCTek? LL You don't want to know. It's not so much the removals. One is broken off and they want a ridiculous amount to dig the remains out, one is falling out - cheaper to let it. But the main thing, is because they're right at the front - replacements. Got quote for cheapest plastic, but nah - still too much. They made noises about checking others too, I told them to forget that. It's OK, it can wait, I'm getting used to it now. |

| 1211763 | 2011-07-15 06:18:00 | Is there any way that you could go to WINZ for help with the cost? You don't have to be a benificiary to get help from them. My nephew had to get all his teeth out and and get false ones and he got a loan from them. His wife works, but is on a low wage and they couldn't really afford anything much. They pay it back out of a disability allowance from ACC which he gets. Wish we could all help! Tooth trouble is not good. I am lucky, I get my dental work done by a dentist who subscribes to the Community Service Card scheme and I get great discounts on dental treatment. (subsidised by WINZ) LL |
