Sigh...

I thought that was the normal Wellywood population..

1211354 2011-06-23 08:09:00 I'm pretty sure that Wellywood's population would be extremely flattered to be linked, however vaguely, with "normal".
Luxury.

1211355 2011-06-23 08:35:00 Less than 3% of Japanese population in the disaster zones where there is 8% of kiwis in our disaster zone.

I have a news flash for you, they have a MUCH smaller problem.

And I have a retort from the world of those who understand percentages:

Japanese population = 127,950,000 (June 2011)
3% = 4,407,000

New Zealand Population = 4,407,000 (also June 2011)
8% = 352,720

Proportionately, we suffer the most. But in terms of numbers of human misery and upset, the number of actual lives affected, there's many many more people affected in Japan. I rest my case. :D

1211356 2011-06-23 09:02:00 Japan GDP: $5,458 billion USD
New Zealand GDP: $140.434 billion USD

The real question is which in which 3rd world nation is Japan dumping all this stuff?

If you're going to talk stats, use the real figures. Japan GDP 5,458,872 Million USD, and New Zealand GDP 140,434 Million USD

But who's "dumping" what or where is not the issue.

Read the thread again. We're talking about people here. Lives.

The figures I used are correct, unless we are doing a scientific study, there's no need to be anal about what denomination to display GDP in.

I'm talking about lives too, maybe not tsunami victims, but lives nonetheless.

Or is death in a first world country the only death that concerns you? Who gives a damn about the poor children who will die from waste irresponsibly dumped.

Apologies, I didn't see you'd dropped three zeros off the end, to indeed make billions. My bad. :horrified
