1212271 2011-06-28 00:22:00 How do you know angle of diggage?

To assume Spain.

I did say straight down rather than an angle. Use a plumb bob for the angle and hence Spain rather than China.

1212272 2011-06-28 00:38:00 2 - Natural selection (please note this is not evolution) is flawed
Natural selection is flawed within the human race because Doctors are keeping alive people who would no longer be adding their flawed genes to the gene pool so technically the human race is getting weaker.

If we are arguing #2 then within the limitations of the use case natural selection cannot be flawed as homosexuals are unable to breed with each other.

Agreed on your point however, though it doesn't quite fit the confines of this scenario.

A potential flaw in this would be if the 'couple' donated sperm to a woman who agreed to have a child on their behalf, then the genes could still be passed on even though the child (poor sod) is raised with homosexual parents.

Which sort of ruins both my arguments... I hate myself...

1212277 2011-06-28 10:53:00 To get this thread slightly back on topic...

Riddle me this one:

"If homosexuality is genetic, wouldn't it have bred itself out of the population over the last few thousand years?"

Which of course opens up two potential problems:

1 - Homosexuality isn't genetic
2 - Natural selection (please note this is not evolution) is flawed

Say homosexuality is genetic, what if society, in the course of the last 4-6 thousand years, has forced would be bachelors and maidens (?) to marry and reproduce for social/cultural... I mean, every religion out there advocates marriage.

Single people in the past have been ostracized. I know the grandparents didn't approve the fact that my aunt was single well into her 40s.
Look at Islam for instance, being gay will probably get you stoned (the not so funny stoned) - just marry and prevent people from doubting you. Same for Christians during the era of the inquisition - even much later, Oscar Wilde for instance (IIRC) and of course lest we the wonderful clergy and their alter boys - if there weren't accepted into the clergy, most would probably have married bred their own kids and molested them (a la Joseph Fritzl)....

And lets also remember, marriages in the past have been "arranged" - most in the Indian sub-continent, rural China, the Middle-East, etc still are - that's at least half the human population that don't much have a choice - and so natural selection fails.

1212278 2011-06-28 11:44:00 FYI:

Other things that are also sins/abominations according to the Bible:

- Eating shellfish
- Wearing clothes made of more than one fabric
- Getting raped (this only goes for the ladies, but you can smooth things over by marrying your rapist, so…)
- Trimming your beard or sideburns
- Getting remarried
- Planting more than one crop in a field
- Having a wet dream
- Eating rare meat
- Touching a dead animal
- Menstruating and/or earning your “red wings”
- Getting a tattoo

So there.
