| 1211239 | 2011-06-22 21:59:00 | Patent laws... and the whole patent industry is out of order and grossly in need of overhaul. Problem is all the vested interests that will be effected with any change. Although it's getting to the point where patents are obstructing basic every-day developments, so there may ultimately be a ground swell of support for a massive back-step on patents. Software routines that require a very large amount of development may indeed justify a patent. However, relatively simple and obvious developments (like multi touch gestures) should not be awarded such protection. This patent is not being used to protect Apples IP. It's being used to cripple the functionality of all competing devices. |

| 1211241 | 2011-06-22 22:37:00 | Apple and its users are numbnuts You left out the Apple service companies, they have lost the plot as well. A client of mine "had" to buy his 10Yr old daughter a Probook November last year for the private school she attends (school insisted all students "must" have a Mac, PC's were NOT allowed!!). Cost including little pick fluffy bag etc about $2500. 3 weeks ago she dropped it, he took it into a Mac service place who charged $90 to look at it and quoted $1200 to replace the screen and also claimed something had been spilt on it and said the logic board (motherboard for normal people) needed replacing which would cost a further about $3500. Rightly so, he told them to get stuffed!! |
