| 1239580 | 2011-10-24 21:12:00 | The Captain of the Rena and his Officer are facing the same criminal charge that was laid a year or so back against the skipper/driver of a powerboat on Taupo when he fatally struck a person in the water. On that occasion this was the only charge available to the authorities under existing law and no doubt the same applies now. Charge, operating a vessel causing danger or risk - 1 year imprisonment or $10.000 fine. Should our law-makers be looking at the how appropriate this is...? Sorry wrong forum - Mod Please ? |
