1213095 2011-06-29 02:31:00 Hi All,

Can someone recommend me a good mouse for, primarily, graphic design work in Photoshop/InDesign etc? Are gaming mice suitable?

The surface it will be used on (if this matters) is an older wood-grain veneer laminate table, which is quite smooth and glossy.

Not too worried about price or whether its corded/cordless.

TIA

1213096 2011-06-29 02:34:00 Personally I'd go for a Logitech G700, G9x or M950. They're not very lefty-friendly though if you use the wrong hand ;) inphinity (7274)

Cheers - just looking at some of the Logitech ones now - it looks like laser tracking is the business.

Is the Darkfield laser noticably better?

1213098 2011-06-29 03:05:00 To be honest for graphic work I recommend getting a tablet. Then a tracking mouse for the tablet. It will be a lot easier and way more accurate. Depends what sort of graphics work you're wanting to do. dpDesignz (15919)

I'll vouch this, I use a G500 for everything at home, so the G700 can only be better

Fairly good reliability from personal experience and what I've experienced with Logitech mouses too (if that's an issue you're thinking about)

^^Empathy. mice, not mouses :p

It's the most comfortable mouse I've ever used. I am right-handed, though. As above, it could be painful as a lefty.

Nofam, the Darkfield mice are great on specific surface types - glass tables, for example, where a typical laser will ping around a bit. No real difference on a standard surface.

1213102 2011-06-29 04:35:00 Yeah big fan of the G500, can't say I've used the G700 but the Logitech gear is usually pretty decent, and not too expensive either!

The customizable buttons are *very* nice, as is the on-the-fly changing of the sensitivity / DPI. I also like the weights, make the mouse nice and heavy... And last but not least, can't forget the button under the scroll wheel that changes it between free-scrolling and the "controlled scrolling", I dunno it's hard to explain?
