Has anyone installed it ? They say there are not many new features it uses less memory. Can I still get 4.00 ? Can I go from 3.6 to 5.00 ? |

2011-06-28 02:06:00 | I installed it about a week ago, and so far so good. It seems more responsive and faster than FF 4, and apps that didn't run on 4 are now working. But apart from that, it doesn't seem too different. | WalOne (4202) | |

2011-06-28 04:53:00 | Lots of the add-ons I have for FF have stopped working with the upgrade to FF5. :( One of the reasons I swapped to Chrome - upgrades to Chrome tend not to break installed extensions....

2011-06-28 05:09:00 | IIRC Chrome are doing version upgrades every 6 weeks, a *very* aggressive release schedule. As such, the releases tend not to break things, much in the way that the Linux Kernel going from 2.6 -> 3.0 will be handled. This is why Chrome is now around the version 12 / 14 mark. Firefox previously had big issues with anything more than a X.X.Y upgrade, but from what I understand they're going to start aiming for more frequent releases also (Every 3 months?), in order to try and keep up with Chrome / IE9 etc in terms of new featuresets. Edit: It's not *that* bad, considering Chrome does the same, but Chrome at least "works" with the upgraded versions. Things break less. Like Extensions. They shouldn't break, or at least not every single extension out there.

2011-06-28 05:27:00 | I have yet to have anything not work since going from V3 to V4 then onto V5. I much prefer it to Chrome which simply doesn't suit my style, I find Chrome a bit of a PITA | gary67 (56) | |
2011-06-28 05:34:00 | I have found the opposite, at least 1 add-on that didn't work 100% in FF4, now works perfectly in FF5 | lagbort (5041) | |
2011-06-28 05:42:00 | I've just upgraded to Firefox 5.00 No problems, Just a major learning curve to get used to the new layout. It certainly is much faster than 3.6 As an offside. I don't like the change to the new naming system. Just because Chrome are doing it ? We will soon be on Firefox 22 which will just fix a few bugs and security issues. I think the old system of 3, 4, 5 etc being used for major upgrades, and the point upgrades being for minor upgrades and bug fixes etc.
