1212761 2011-06-28 00:30:00 The government has chosen to discontinue funding TVNZ 7 after the current funding runs out in 2012. Please sign the online petition and join the fight to rescue TVNZ 7.

TVNZ 7 is our only public broadcasting television station. Almost every country has a public broadcasting television channel where the programmes aired are not chosen because of their rating, but because of their content, which is a refreshing change.

TVNZ 7 is the only channel that broadcasts interesting and informative programmes free to air. It would be sad to see it go the way of TVNZ 6.

Sign the petition online at issues.co.nz

Please publicise this issue as much as you can by signing the petition and asking all your contacts to sign the petition as well.

Please post a reply to show that you have signed the petition and to help keep this thread alive. Thanks.

Help save TVNZ 7.

1212762 2011-06-28 00:32:00 Ehh.. I'm not too sure if it will be as relevant once Free-To-Air TV goes out end of this year, considering most people will have either MySKY HDi (New Zealanders, trend of overspending for something they don't need) or TiVO. I'll sign the partition, but I'm not too sure if it's as much deal as you're making it out to be.

Good luck on the partition anyways, I'll vote to keep the history around

1212763 2011-06-28 00:35:00 I had not heard that free to air tv was going. As far as I am aware free to air tv is here to stay.

Thanks for your support.

There's advertisements on TV advertising it, last I saw.. Free-To-Air TV was on the way out, and we had to be on Digital (TiVO, Sky, etc.) AFAIK, at the end of this year, Free To Air TV is gone, but, in saying that, TiVO, has all the free to air channels on it, could be some form of compromise

Considering the above though, it's only like $300 or so now.. Save a good few hundred of those silly people who bought it straight away when it first came out

1212766 2011-06-28 01:06:00 You may be confusing that with the change from analogue to digital. All analogue transmissions are to be switched off - next year I think - and all stations will be digital. That does not mean that they are no longer free to air but no longer analogue.

You do not need a dish to recieve the digital transmissions as they are broadcasting the free to air digital channels from both the land based sites as well as from the satellite.

I am watching all the free to air channels in digital using my old tv antenna which works fine.

1212767 2011-06-28 01:09:00 Free-to-air TV is not going anywhere anytime soon. It's simply not going to be broadcast in analogue form anymore.

I didn't even know there was a TVNZ 7.

1212768 2011-06-28 01:14:00 I have yet to see anything even remotely decent on TVNZ 7 so personally I won't be sad to see it go. --Wolf-- (128)
