1212733 2011-06-29 05:22:00 Just keep it clean guys, enough of the sniping at each other. Have a discussion, even a heated debate, but don't let it get personal please.

Thanks :)

1212734 2011-06-29 06:17:00 Too many politicians for the size of this country, almost as bad as Greece, lol.Lurking.

If you read through that link I provided earlier HERE (www.elections.org.nz) did you notice that the 120 politicians is "Not Negotiable" in the “Electoral Commissions” review.

Struth, if half of them fell off the planet overnight nobody would notice them missing.

Mind you, on any given day you’d be lucky to find half of them because they’d be swanning around overseas somewhere.

God Defend New Zealand.

Yes I knew that and it's not limited to only 120 members either .

There is a "factor" by which the 120 number can increase, but it slips my mind and even Mr Google cannot highlight it for me, lol .

You’re right Lurking and as I recall it revolves around the number of “List MP’s” a Party is entitled to.

As I recall, if Mana, Maori, Greens, Act, NZ First, and the other minor party’s were to get one person actually elected, then, a heap of “Coat Tailors” get to get their nose in the trough to.

As I recall the worst possible scenario is horrendous.

I’ll try and find the specifics.

1212737 2011-06-30 10:46:00 And it is those same "Coat Tailors" that will never let MMP be abolished :( :( Zippity (58)

Actually NZ First was I think the only party that wanted the number of MP's reduced as the people wanted and they also wanted binding referendums.

1212741 2011-07-01 01:18:00 MMP was a good try like stopping the death penalty, both didnt work.
We need to be like ze Swiss and have binding referendums although if the MMP was voted for in one I would request the Army do a military coup and get it it consigned to history

1212742 2011-07-01 01:25:00 Binding referendums is an excellent idea, but only if voting was made mandatory.

we should also have an option to select "raped by Goats" for politicians.
