Ever tried to have a sneaky smoke? blardy hard isnt it? trying to disguise the smell let alone stop smoke rising. To clowns who think prisoners get ready access to drugs **** as well. I think a few furtive smokes in jail would string you out and make it worse. Lets have a bit of sympathy for these criminals when they go the slammer now having withdrawal pangs from drugs alcohol and baccy. |

Those in jail won't give a rats arse if they are caught smoking tobbaco, no effort would be made to disguise the smell, more likey the exact opposite, they will flaunt it. |

Meh, they don't disrupt the scumbags unless they have to, they won't do squat, And the crims probably have rights. The smell of tobacco won't be enough to take any action. have you by any chance run into the brick wall that comes from smelling weed at work? |

I think you are overestimating the security . We have had Correction Staff caught smuggling drugs and phones into prison, haven't we? Ready-access? Probably not, but it does happen more than we'd all like to think . Also, all prisoners don't live in cells - in certain prisons, prisoners are allowed apartment style living (including a weekly supervised visit to buy groceries etc) . Prisons in NZ aren't quite as they a portrayed on TV (especially the low security units) . |

I have struck it once about 5 years ago at a logging gang in Woodhill forest. Saw some of gang smoking electric puha was just on knock off, discretely dobbed them into the owner who fired them. Rest of gang looked at me funny when I went into forest later on to weld up breakages fix diggers but they didnt say anything. |

| 1213002 | 2011-07-01 01:18:00 | yeah, well short of a drugs test you can't fire people, well you can, but they can challenge it and will win. Even though drug users on site are obvious you still need to catch them in the act and they need to admit it. (smell or suspicion alone is nothing) Then you get to offer them help with their addiction in the form of time off for counseling  |
