1240246 2011-10-27 05:01:00 Hey guys,
Am new to press F1.

Am getting a local PC store to build me a computer and I was wondering if you could give many any advice on the specs before I get them to build.
If I should change anything let me know
Thanks

What is the computer going to be used for? For example, mainly gaming (what games), video editing or general purpose.

1240248 2011-10-27 07:48:00 What is your budget like?

While I'm no expert, some of those component choices look a bit dated.

I'd personally spend a bit more and get a Phenom II 9x5 series CPU, or go down to an Athalon II X4 processor.

The hard drive I would recommend updating to a 1TB drive.

If you don't want to play any games, the HD5570 is adequate enough, although if you do want to play games, I'd highly recommend going for a HD6000 series card, preferrably 66x0 or above. Alternatively, a Nvida GTX460 or GTX560 or above

Which brings us to the motherboard... I'm sorry but in my mind, the motherboard chosen brings to mind someone scraping the bottom of the barrel. It's cheap yes, but there is a reason for its cheapness. The Nvidia 630a chipset is old, the board doesn't support USB3, Gigabit ethernet, or Sata 6Gb/s. A more expensive motherboard will serve you better in the long run IMO. Look for something with a AMD 800 or 900 series chipset.

Can't comment on the Case or power supply sorry.

A lot of things will depend on your budget, and what you want to use the PC for.

These are my thoughts and opinions, you are in no way obliged to pay any attention to them :p

PS: How much are the shop charging to build a PC with those components?

1240250 2011-10-27 09:07:00 "Power Supply Great Wall 450W AdvanceX Power Supply 12cm FAN " Great Wall - despite great effort, that didn't work very well either.

1240251 2011-10-27 09:26:00 Budget $1000 - $1800

Not really for gaming, but I want a semi powerful computer

Quotes at like $669 without an OS monitor and other add ons.
