| 1239327 | 2011-10-23 07:29:00 | The old Telecom DSL 502T modem has started taking a few too many unannounced days off latterly so it might be time to give it the old heave-ho. Telecom were very keen for me to have their Thomson TG v7modem/router (@ $99) but after reading Chills blog, and the specs, I became just as keen not to have it. I am already running a NetCom NP802n 11n router and while the Thomson would be all-in-one Router/Modem it would have taken me back to 802.11b/g. Looked at the NB6Plus4 WIN ADSL+11n mentioned in Chills blog but wondered how old it was and whether there maybe later models around and, might it be better to just get another modem. So the question is: what is the latest and greatest in modems or should I write off he cost invested in the NP802n and go for a NB6plus4. That is assuming the wireless performance of the NB6plus4 is better than the NP802n. |

They're *terribly* flaky, dropping connections all the time. To be honest I've not tried the NP802n, so I can't comment on it, but if you've got one of them, it's most probably going to be a damn sight better than the Thomson.... |

| 1239331 | 2011-10-24 00:06:00 | From my limited experience with Thomson (owning one ST536v6) the hardware is pretty well designed (well except that they use CapXon craps) but let down by a retarded interface that's also buggy. The underlying firmware code must be good because the thing IS stable, but if they can screw up and put blindingly obvious bugs in one part of a firmware, I'm sure they can screw up and do it to a more critical part on another. |

If you talk tho Telecom nicely, they would have given it to you FREE. They gave the v8 version FREE. It's working GREAT, not a single issue, so far. |

| 1239334 | 2011-10-24 03:11:00 | They only give them free if you agree to a 12-month contract as far as I know. | Agent_24 (57) | ||
| 1239335 | 2011-10-24 03:44:00 | Do others agree that modems can crap out occassionally. (and if so why ?) I am sure that mine gets "clogged up" and if I turn it off and reset my Windows Network connection, then I get my performance back again. |
