| 1214999 | 2011-07-05 01:58:00 | Apparently this person was charged with an offence but the Police can't give evidence in a timely manner due to the Rugby World Cup. Justice delayed is Justice denied IMHO. www.nzherald.co.nz Drop the charges or proceed I say. Not that I agree with what he did but I would at least bring the matter before the Court ASAP. |

| 1215000 | 2011-07-06 07:17:00 | Another injustice is the 'clear zone' of 500m radius around each of the games venues. Someone who owns a home within this zone is not allowed to display any advertising for their business - despite having been allowed to do so for decades beforehand. I find it very offensive that a transient sporting event can dictate terms to our own local homeowners and businesspeople. Someone has bent over and figuratively taken one up the pooper for us to be stuck with that deal. It stinks. |

| 1215001 | 2011-07-06 07:40:00 | And the NZ Government have changed NZ school holidays because of the RWC and apparently do not coincide with Australia for those wanting to leave NZ for Australia during the RWC which may hopefully discourage those wanting to rent out their property, go to Aussie and take their children with them maybe? The rules have been written about displaying signs but I don't think anyone has yet been charged! |

| 1215003 | 2011-07-06 08:55:00 | I looked up the The New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990 (legislation.govt.nz) Para 25(b) is quite clear. The right to be tried without undue delay. Minimum standards of criminal procedure Everyone who is charged with an offence has, in relation to the determination of the charge, the following minimum rights: (a) the right to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial court: (b) the right to be tried without undue delay: (c) the right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law: (d) the right not to be compelled to be a witness or to confess guilt: (e) the right to be present at the trial and to present a defence: (f) the right to examine the witnesses for the prosecution and to obtain the attendance and examination of witnesses for the defence under the same conditions as the prosecution: (g) the right, if convicted of an offence in respect of which the penalty has been varied between the commission of the offence and sentencing, to the benefit of the lesser penalty: (h) the right, if convicted of the offence, to appeal according to law to a higher court against the conviction or against the sentence or against both: (i) the right, in the case of a child, to be dealt with in a manner that takes account of the child's age. |
