That is great, no surprises to day then.

1214194 2011-07-03 04:37:00 I tend to think there is more to promoting our multi-cultural country than just promoting Maori. Why this country has to promote NZ as brown skinned, flax shirt wearing, tatoo faced heathens is beyond me. It should be marketed as a first world modern country that has something to offer the rest of the world. The rest of the world needs to see us for who we are, not everyone in this country is Maori, many are Asian, American, European, African, Australian etc.

When I hear people from other countries are to scared to come to NZ because they think they are going to get killed by bare feet tatooed savages running around with sticks and clubs doing war dances, that is a real worry to tourism, industry and investment. That is what we are promoting and that is what people are thinking and seeing.

Good on JK for promoting us as a modern country, and place to invest in.

Celebrate Maori and the unique culture that comes with it but promote New Zealand for what it really is.

Thats my :2cents: worth.

1214195 2011-07-03 05:33:00 Are you thinking in terms of forming a sea based military alliance?

England no longer have an aircraft carrier, so perhaps a fleet of wakas could compensate!

Ci, haven't the British cosied up with the French and using their (waka) aircraft carrier as partners' ?.

1214198 2011-07-03 09:48:00 Hence I said the heritage of this country, and not your family which makes up a tiny tiny tiny insignificant portion in time, history and culture.

Go look up william hobson, you think he was insignificant in time, history and culture?

You support the guy who shot the flag too?

Oh goodie, the "Maori Spelling Police" are out in force. :clap

Please excuse me, but Maori isn’t my native tongue and my interest in a useless language has become apparent. :)

So if you don't want to use Maori you could call it a canoe then I suppose.
