1242299 2011-11-07 00:58:00 I have spent hours converting VCS files to mpg for playing via NPVR (GBPVR). The files play audio fine via WMP or VLC but I get no audio under NPVR. (Only tested on WMP thinking if it worked there it would be OK under NPVR - wrong!!).

The problem, I think, seems to be that I unwisely recorded the sound onto only the right channel - should have recorded onto both channels.

I've tried hard to find a tool that will convert to mono but just can't latch onto one that works (or one that I can understand!).

Anyone know where to point me for a solution?

TIA.

1242300 2011-11-07 01:04:00 VirtualDub can do that I believe? Chilling_Silence (9)
1242301 2011-11-07 02:34:00 Thanks, Chill, but all I can find to do is save as AVI. Can't see anywhere to modify audio channels. linw (53)
1242302 2011-11-07 02:51:00 Pretty sure you can do it under Audio --> Filters, or something to that effect. I'm going by memory, but have a play with those filters. Chilling_Silence (9)
1242303 2011-11-07 03:07:00 Cool Edit Pro 2 (Trial) might be able to it. But now owned by Adobe. I'm sure I have split and merged audio channels including Mono. kahawai chaser (3545)

Audacity can do this as well.

There is an 'Audio/Filters' option but the 'Filters' is greyed out. Dead end.

1242306 2011-11-07 08:10:00 Oh, much embarrassment (and relief). Changed the Audio Renderer in NPVR and the sound is there. Damn, thought I had tried everything earlier.

Thanks for the help, guys. As always, much appreciated.

But still strange it is so hard to find an audio track editor!! Just grateful I don't need it now.

1242308 2011-11-07 19:09:00 I use Audacity occasionally but Audacity can't write out the video with the modified audio. All you get is the audio file. linw (53)
