| 1241754 | 2011-11-04 03:19:00 | Sorry , I mean firmware. = HD BIOS sorta Cheers, just though Id check 1st. I vaguely remember some particulardrives were fixable with firmware updates ?? Spins up, clunks, then spins down, so the is some minor hope... but FYI There are some possibilities from http://myharddrivedied.com/ Get a good drive, start it up : MUST be same model & firmware version (thats the the hard bit) with good HD still running , remove logic board & put it on faulty HD. This works when the faulty HD just cant read the initialization data off the platters. havnt tried this myself yet, have never had the identical drive to try with. :thumbs: |

| 1241755 | 2011-11-04 03:27:00 | Earlier seagate hdds had probs, and if you updated the FW before it died totally, you had a chance of getting it to work again. The only other way you may get it to work again is if you use a TTL-RS232 adapter, and use a program like putty or hyperterminal. Look for the model, on the WD site.
