1216533 2011-07-13 07:26:00 Wonders what this device will do for Orcon and whether it will leave Telecom users unhappy?

1216534 2011-07-13 07:44:00 I wonder if other ISPs will follow suit? Bobh (5192)
1216535 2011-07-13 07:55:00 Still going to need a phone line. Given how how many people have problems with their internet connection I would not be relying on something like that for my main means of phone communication. Safari (3993)

Nope. A naked DSL line will work.

1216537 2011-07-13 08:30:00 is there is still a charge?

ie., phoneline + BB = maybe $45 + $60 ... $105

nDSL with an equiv BB plan might cost $85. in otherwords you won't just pay $60 for it ... with that little difference, some pple may stick with a traditional line and the phonecalls does not use up your internet data .... unless if the Orcon approach is v different.

It is still a phone line, just doesn't have a phone number and someone still has to pay for it.

1216541 2011-07-13 21:08:00 The only difference between this, and their current "HomeHub" or "BizHub" device that they offer, is is that it has a phone integrated as opposed to requiring a corded / cordless phone be attached?

Call me crazy, but Xnet have done stuff like this with their pre-provisioned Linksys devices, both ATA's and routers with an FXS port...

Not when you loose the internet. I'm on Orcon and I have experienced the odd day when it has been dead. Luck i still have a analog landline..
