1216514 2011-07-13 01:31:00 So, was on the bus to New Lynn this morning, for my daily trip to uni, and saw a new little advertisement poster on the side of the bus, wasn't too sure if it was aimed as a joke, or was serious..

"Always wanted a corner office with a view? How about being paid to travel? Plus a $400,000 company vehicle?

Tony did, so he became a bus driver."

It continues to advertise on how to become one, and vague pre-requisites before applying. This campaign, seems good either way, if it's a joke campaign it gets attention, it worked, cause I found it blimmen halarious reading it, but if it's serious, it gets attention cause it's so bad..

Either way, thought I'd share with you what I found funny for today

There are always ways to glamorise unglamourous occupations. Gentlemen who throw rubbish onto the back of trucks are called Garbiologists.

It is nice to know that my job gives me a corner office with a view.:clap I quite often invite passengers to come into my office so that I can write them out a bus ticket.:D

1216520 2011-07-13 03:59:00 Years ago, before I did my OE, I thought I'd apply to the ARA (as they were in those days) to be a bus driver for a 12 month period or so - thought if I got my Passenger Service Licence it might open up opportunities in Europe with the bus tour companies. ;)

I didn't get the job (because I didn't have a car to get to the Depot every day - all of 20 minutes walk from home!!) - and I was extremely put off by them questioning the fact that I had answered "No" to the "Any criminal convictions?" question on the application. They didn't seem to believe that someone WITHOUT criminal convictions might want to drive a bus. :D

Hope it's not compulsory to be a crim these days to drive a bus... Maybe you just have to have "maskophobia":p

You do have to go thru a Police records check just to check that you are not in fact a criminal. This takes on average about six weeks. When I did my driving test it was an hour long in your own car. You do need to have a heavy trade licence.
