This one's a little bit different because it's asking people to call an international number which, if rung, will be charged at a premium rate per minute. The spam email reads: From: "Inland Revenue" Notice You have received this email because you or someone had used your account from different locations. Please call to confirm your billing address from your LANDLINE at this number: 00881835211737 Regards, Stephen Bronner Internal Revenue Service If the number is dialled, an automated message asks the caller to hold. For each minute the caller holds, charges will be incurred to the caller. Advise anyone who gets the email to delete it immediately (I'm sure no-one who frequents this forum will be suckered into calling the IRD on an obviously non-NZ number, but you might have friends or rellies who could get taken in...) |
