1216160 2011-07-11 22:21:00 What is position next year if no digital kit, TV's etc?

Must we all get new TV's, if old kit?

1216161 2011-07-11 22:33:00 Either a new TV, or one of the box things. I may just do what I've just done.

Brought Win7 Pro, tuned in the channels using Media Centre, and use the Xbox

Now I can watch all the freeview channels on the main TV :p

Saves me buying a TV or box (if the UHF boxes were under $100, like the satellite ones), I may / would buy one

1216162 2011-07-11 22:38:00 Buying a digital decoder that will plug into your TV is most probably the cheapest option. We have a decoder that works fine. You can buy one of two decoders - one that works from your normal aerial and one that works from your satellite dish. Take your pick.

We have a decoder that the ordinary TV aerial plugs into and then the output from the decoder goes to the same, or similar, input that you use for your video recorder or DVD player.

It's all quite simple and is an installation job you can do yourself. I'm certain you'll cope.:)

1216163 2011-07-11 22:43:00 I use a set top box to get satellite Freeview on LCD televisions. The plugs from the set top box to an old analogue TV will be different but there may be an easy solution to this. Bobh (5192)

1216165 2011-07-12 00:13:00 You'll also need to make sure you have a UHF antenna, if you are in a Freeview|HD area, or a satellite dish. CYaBro (73)
1216166 2011-07-12 00:25:00 We have a freeview box connected to an old sky dish and is all connected to an ancient warehouse TV that is analogue gary67 (56)
1216167 2011-07-12 00:54:00 There is no need to upgrade the TV. There is another annoying article (www.stuff.co.nz) on stuff today about it. Sure, a lot of people will use this as an opportunity to upgrade, but there is no need to. Any old TV will work fine when a tuner is plugged into it, a lot of tuners even come with a RF output if the TV doesn't have AV inputs. wratterus (105)
1216168 2011-07-12 01:22:00 And it also improves the picture quality on a CRT TV.

1216169 2011-07-12 01:39:00 If you have sky/Telstraclear cable you're of course, "digital" already. psycik (12851)
