1216120 2011-07-11 12:19:00 Hi,
I think it has been said that the Galaxy S 2 is a great phone.
How does the HTC Sensation stack up against it.
Putting price, plans, and provider to one side for a moment which is the phone of choice at the present moment.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

1216121 2011-07-11 22:14:00 Interesting (for me) that you should post this today - just yesterday I made arrangements to obtain the Sensation from Telecom under their 'freebie' offer. Hoping to receive it tomorrow. This is to replace my Nexus One, which I love, but over time, I have become less and less enamoured of the active app management I am forced to do, due to the fact that it only has 512MB of internal memory. I found I was having to pick and choose which apps I could install to try out (despite my reliance on the Apps2SD app). Also, I was constantly having to clear cache, to free up space.

I went with the Sensation over the Samsung variants, partly because of the price (free phone plus $110 a month for 300 anytime minutes, 2500 texts and 2GB of data - against what I was paying - $150 a month for 180 anytime minutes, 5000 texts and 2GB data) ut mainly because I like the build quality of the HTC kit. I have played with both the Galaxy SII and the Sensation (at the launch day) and was much more impressed with the Sensation.

1216124 2011-07-12 03:51:00 I like the Nokia N8

A mate has one and he swears by it too - but unfortunately for Nokia fans, going the way of the Dodo...

1216125 2011-07-12 04:33:00 That's quite a good deal actually, might just get the phone on a 24month plan and sell it. Then chuck the sim card in my SGSII. :D xyz823 (13649)
1216126 2011-07-15 03:21:00 I've now had my shiny new HTC Sensation for two whole days. Love it - even more than my Nexus One! Just waiting impatiently now for the Gelli Case to arrive - in the meantime I have to be extra careful with it... johcar (6283)
1216127 2011-07-18 07:59:00 Thank you for your input.
I have now had a chance to check out both phones that I mentioned. Whilst they are both great and I really would have liked to get one or the other they had one problem that has turned me off making a purchase. They are both too big.
I got a smaller one that I have been using for a couple of days. Another thing i have learned and that I wasn't told about is that one doesn't go on a plan with a smartphone that only has 50mb of data per month. The phone will use that much in a day just by being on, very scary.
Still making up my mind whether I have done the right thing or not, it's been a bit of a steep learning curve so far. :stare:

The phone will use that much in a day just by being on, very scary. They don't use anything like that much data - if you're going through it that fast, you must have either installed a very hungry app, be using very hungry settings, or be consuming a lot of content (e.g. Youtube, web browsing, Facebook etc).

To put it in perspective, Mum also has an Android smartphone, and goes through around 20mb per month.
